One day, when he was about sixteen, Gregory used a newer team to plow some pastureland for a new field. The team was having problems breaking the pasture. Gregory’s pa told him the pasture had once been a field, but that he had let it grow over. The ground was tough and the sod was thick. Gregory continued to be patient and didn’t drive them hard. The more praise he gave them, the harder they worked. Dove and Daisy fought hard not to let him down.
