Chapter 3 Gregory woke up soaked in sweat. Frank was having a nightmare again. Gregory sat up and rolled down one of the woolen blankets that covered them in the wagon. In early March, the temperature still dropped below freezing at night, and the blanket was stiff with frost. Gregory took Frank in his arms and gently roused him. “Frankie, baby, wake up. You’re dreaming again.” Frank’s body jerked as his eyes opened. “Did I wake you?” “This one must have been a bad one?” Gregory asked with a smile. Frank took a deep, sleepy breath before he answered. “Yeah, but this time it was different.” Without any further explanation, he fell back asleep in Gregory’s arms.
