Chapter 5 Frank let out a whoop and jumped down. Gregory followed close behind. Sally barked with excitement and nipped at their heels. They embraced each other in a hug. Frank broke the hug first, but Gregory kept hold of his right hand. They surveyed the land—their land—from the top of their ridge. There was nothing around them but miles and miles of prairie. In the far east, they could see the smoke coming from the McAvoys’ chimney. In the far west, there was a distant ridge. Beyond that, they saw smoke coming from chimneys, or maybe it was campfires grouped together.
