The next day, the real work started on the claims. It would normally take a single man three weeks to cut and drag enough logs to build a decent-sized cabin. It took Frank and Gregory the same amount of time because they worked half a day on felling and gathering logs and the other half of their day plowing the fields. While they worked with one horse, they picketed the other around the site where the cabin would sit. Until they were able to put in a floor, the floor would be dirt.
