Chapter 7
After reading more of his mom’s diary, and wondering why she had stopped writing after she married Dad, Cal knew he had to confirm things with someone. Reading it, even in his Mom’s own hand, wasn’t enough. Mom was so young when she died that he didn’t remember her very well; he remembered her more from photographs. He knew she’d been sick for a while, but Dad never offered specifics and Cal had gotten the message not to ask.
He had a list of things to talk to Sue about and couldn’t put it off much longer; the revelations about his mom and Uncle Dan gave him the final push to call her. As a peace offering, he invited her for coffee Sunday afternoon. There would be no workers to distract them, and it might keep his mind off Andy.
