“What?” He muttered.
Frankie looked away from the astounded man, her eyes welling with uncharacteristic tears.
“I can't marry you,” She repeated shakily.
“Why?” Auto whispered, broken bewilderment all over his face.
“I just can't, okay? Just leave it alone.” Tears ran hot down her cheeks, as she turned to him, agony scribbled on the canvas of her features.
Auto was frozen in shock. Rejection stung like a bee, but her tears burned like fire.
“I'm gonna need more than I just can't, ” He stated emphatically, his shoulders drooping, the fight in him steadily draining. “We're perfect for each other, can't you see that?”
“Let it go, Jason. ” She turned away from him once more, giving herself a hug. “Just let it go.
“I can't! ” He shouted. “The woman of dreams, won't marry me, and won't give me a reason why she's refusing me. I can't let that go! ”
“Jason! ”
“No! Y-You taught to me to dream. You inspired me to create, you gave me my sons, hell you glued me together! You know who the Foo Foo Fighters are, you make the best cookies, you tamed Grim!” He was on a roll.
“You don't mind my past, yours is messy too. You don't see the blood on my hands, you don't see Auto. You see me, Jason. Regular Guy.”
“I know your favorite song, I know favorite dreams. I know you hate wearing jean skirts because you think it's stupid. I know you secretly love Ke$ha, and you're obsessed with personalizing your phone.”
“A-And you hate Tonya's spaghetti but you eat anyway because you love her and you don't want to hurt her feelings.”
“You have a One Direction playlist and you like Pixar better than Disney. ”
“We belong together," He insisted passionately, “Why are you saying no? ”
“Because... ”
“Because what, Frankie? Because some asshole broke your heart? Because you don't trust me? Because I'm a murderer?”
“Because I'm married!”
Auto was cemented in that moment. Nothing but those words existed. Nothing.
“You're what?” He grumbled, his soul creaking, breaking.
“I'm married.” She repeated in defeat. “Happy now? I can't marry you Jason. Because I'm already married.”
