Auto refused to believe it. "No way. No f*****g way you were a virgin!" "How do you figure?" Frankie glared, putting her hand on her hips. "There's no gods-damned way you were virgin, not the way you f****d me that night." A faint blush appeared on her chocolate cheeks, but it wasn't noticeable. "Well, I was." Auto refused to believe that woman was a virgin. Hell, he hardly believed she was virgin ever! After all the things they did that night, all the things she did to him that night, goddammit he still dreamed about it. "I don't believe you." Frankie shrugged. She didn't expect him to. "Whatever. I came here, I did my part. I'm free of blame, so... Go about your life." Frankie turned to leave, but Auto caught her arm. "If it's my child, why are you letting me off the hook so easily?" Auto's mind was whirling. Frankie shrugged out of his hold, looking him in the eye and telling the truth. "If you don't want this child, I won't force you to take care of it. My father never wanted me. He made sure I knew. I remember wishing I never had a Father at all." Auto raked her blank features. "My child won't live like that. The people in his life will love him. And if you don't," She shrugged nonplussed, not saying anything more. She just turned and walked away. Auto watched open-mouthed as she walked away from him, walking down his long driveway. He guessed she suspected his response, because her car was on the curb, still running. Just as she left his doorstep, Grim came zooming into his driveway. "Auto, what the f**k is—" Grim followed his line of sight, looking at the small sexy woman leaving his place. Hm. Grim looked back at his friend watching him trail the old car until it was out of sight. "Hey, fucker. You weren't talking to me right?" Auto frowned discombobulated. "When?" Grim smirked. Good. "Who was that?" Auto left him at the door, going into the kitchen to get a beer. Grim let himself in, shutting and locking the door behind him. "Just some woman." Grim noted to himself that she wasn't just some woman. He could tell by the way he talked about her. Usually, he'd say, just some b***h I f****d. "She was beautiful. What's her number? I would love to—" Auto's hand tightened around the neck of his beer bottle until he broke it. "I'm gonna clean that up." Oohhh, he likes her, Grim grinned to himself like a four-year-old. "Ey, Auto, you wanna swing by—" "Do you think I'd be a good father?" Auto blurted. Grim stopped, watching his friend sweep up the glass he broke. "I think you'd be a good housemaid." "I'm serious." Grim sighed, running his fingers through his quiff. "How the hell would I know, Auto?" Auto shrugged feeling hopeless and helpless. The drug business was no place for a beautiful woman much less a child. That's why he always used protection—he couldn't do that to a child. f**k, he couldn't screw up a baby like that. His kids would never turn out well. Couldn't. They'd be around prostitutes and drugs and crazy motherfuckers. He trusted his guys to kill, but he didn't trust most of them near anything he liked to keep. He could never be at home, but he could never leave, because if he did— He lived that life as a kid. He had no choice. As an adult, he had choices, he could prevent having a child. He did—until now. Until her. Dammit, now he remembered. She was laying there open and waiting for him, panting for his c**k and he couldn't think straight. All he wanted was to be as deep in her cunt as possible. And then when he was inside, the feeling was so different. He felt her soft warmness, felt every clench, felt her wetness, and he couldn't get enough. He couldn't stop. Then she straddled his c**k, and look him like he was just there for her amusement and he definitely wasn't thinking then. He was too busy watching the obscene sight, her hands holding her t**s as she bounced on his c**k, mouth open, her head thrown back in ecstasy. Yet, she looked almost, angelic, to him, her innocence while doing something so lewd struck him. A virgin. No. No way. He remembered waking up in the middle of the night to piss, looking in the mirror as he was washing his hands. She had marked him. How didn't he notice it? His throat was bruised by her bite, her kiss. He marked her, almost every inch of her, but no woman had ever done that. She just put her hands on the back of his neck as he f****d her, bringing his neck to her mouth. Fuck. Now he was hard. He hadn't forgotten that night, not one detail. Grim quietly observed his friend. His eyes were dazed, he was spaced out. Whoever she was, she had his best friend in a trance. He didn't trust her. She did something to him. Auto had been his best friend since they were in fuckin' diapers and he knew him. "Is she pregnant?" Auto nodded dazedly. "It's yours?" Auto remembered her face. He nodded again. Grim frowned. "You wrapped it up though right?" The Auto he knew wouldn't do his head in a p***y without wrapping up. Mournfully, Auto shook his head. "What do you mean," He demanded, copying his gesture. "The first time was an accident." Grim choked on his spit. "The first time?!" This b***h did something to him. This wasn't his brother. "I f****d her, bare and I couldn't—" Grim impatiently waited. "Hell, I still wouldn't let a condom touch her to this day, consequences be damned." "Whatever happened to no glove no love? Don't be silly, cover your willy. You got her pregnant to get your d**k wet?" Auto clenched his jaw, looking away. "It was an accident the first time. Then I couldn't stop. I had to feel her. You don't understand." "I don't, Auto. I really don't. We didn't want kids. Remember why? Remember what we had to do as kids?" Auto didn't wanna hear the truth. "Look, we are not our fathers. We can be different—we are,—" "This business isn't!" Grim had lost his patience. Auto was well on his way to losing his. "f**k Auto! You can't get out of this business! You can never just hang up the drug game. You think they give a f**k about your kid?" He knew they didn't. But he did. "You think because you don't deal anymore, they're gonna forget. Forget how you killed their Father's and brothers? Cousins, uncles? You think a kid changes that?" "I don't need a goddamn lecture from you Grim! I know all of this, what the hell do you think I should do, ask her to get rid of my kid?" Grim said nothing. Auto scoffed. "f**k you, Grim. I'm not killing my child—" "Yes, you are." "Whether she has him or not, you're killing him." "We're still here," Auto stated quietly. Grim laughed humorlessly. "No, we're really not. I'm the Grim Reaper, you're Automatic. Hell, no one even knows our real names. Those kids are dead." Auto plopped back on his sofa. "Why can't you just let me be happy?" "Because I kinda sorta maybe care about you. And I know you're not heartless. I know you love your kid, I know you wanna be happy. But, I also know that men like us don't get happiness." "We don't get love, we don't get families. If we do, we don't keep them. I know you Auto. You're clinging to humanity, and if this child gets killed—" Grim scoffed. Knowing first head how it felt. "Well, then you'll really be a monster." Auto knew he was right of course. He knew Grim had some ghosts he hated talking about. "Grim," He looked up. "Yeah?" "You remember when your mom made us peanut butter sandwiches, and I ate them even though I was allergic." Grim laughed at the memory of his swollen face. "Yeah. You said you wanted to be polite." "That day, Mamma told me to be polite, and see if people don't notice, so I did. When I got home, I told her politeness kills." Auto remembered that day. His Ma laughed, her flowing black hair surrounding him as she kissed his forehead and ruffled his hair. He hated that. "Oh, hush up little guy. Politeness doesn't kill. Peanut butter does." "I love you, Mommy." His Mother looked around, making sure his Father wasn't in the area. "I love you too, Jase. More than anything ever. Remember that." He did. It kept him alive. "Alright," Grim yelled over the memories. There weren't many happy ones. "Well, I gotta go. You dealing with the Kings?" "Yeah. They're royally screwed." Grim winced at the pun. "Don't. Just—don't."
