Chapter 10: McGee StreetThe front door to Sam’s house was unlocked. Sam opened it slowly and peered inside. Would Paul have set traps here, too? He inhaled: no scent of wrongness, just empty. In the thick cloth travel bags, they still had the magic tools the Companions had given them. Some were meant to explode into fire, some, nets similar to what Paul had left in the bathroom. The rest were wards to be set at doors and windows, creating protective shields and alarms. Sam wondered if any of these tools would stop Paul. His parents had said they would have to be vigilant.
