* * * * Quentin ran away from home in the late summer of 2244, or as he told John-Caleb when they met in their first-year history seminar, Personal Histories of the Lindauzi Long Nightmare, Quentin ran away to school. He had wanted nothing more than to escape the family farm out in the woods near Guilford. His four older brothers and sisters had been perfectly content to stay there, either running the farm with their parents, and living in the big house or one of the back cabins, or doing the same on the farm they married into. His oldest brother and sister especially wanted to be a part of the transition from mostly horse-breeding, raising, and selling to mostly dairy, cow and goat and sheep. Thanks to the repurposed Lindauzi shuttles now flying everywhere, the horse market had shrunk.
