I turn and slowly descend down the steps. I cross the lawn and reach his car, feeling my nerves getting the best of me. He opens the passenger side door and motions for me to get in. "It's cold out here." I sit down and wait for him to join me. When he does, he taps anxiously on the wheel, waiting for me to start the conversation. "So..." I fidget, "how are you?" "I'm okay...how are you?" he asks, which earns a slow nod from me as I stare at my hands. "I'm fine. I just needed some time." "I know," he replies, "I get it." "I did some thinking..."
