All eyes were on Lorenzo and so we're mine. Was he serious or was he just trying to save me the way he did yesterday? Didn't he know that this could spell doom for both of us? But why would Lorenzo do this? Didn't he know how important it was to me to win this case?
The tension in the council hall was thick, suffocating. It was as if the very air had turned against me. Javier's fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white, his face twisted in fury. The two elders who had been against me since yesterday looked as if they could bury me alive.
