I soaked in the praises and the joy of the moment as I gave them the best smile I could conjure in my current state.
“Thank you, Beta Leo,” I said, giving him a small nod.
Claudia was next, sweeping me into a warm hug that took me by surprise. She then spun me around and I couldn't help but hold onto her and laugh.
“I never thought love could make someone fight like a true warrior,” she murmured as she pulled back, her eyes sparkling.
I blushed, unable to meet her gaze fully. Did she really had to put it that way?
But just as warmth filled my heart, I felt an ache return as my gaze drifted back to Lorenzo. He was still watching, his expression unreadable, as if we were strangers. The question slipped out before I could stop it.
