Midnight Stroll

1010 Words
Third person P.O.V Amanda woke up screaming from her nightmare about Damian coming onto her. She doesn't trust herself around him anymore. He's getting to her and she knows it. 'I have to get out of here,' she tells herself as she sits in an up right position on the couch. She takes the blanket off her and stands up in utter darkness. Amanda here's some movement on the bed and she freezes in her tracks to the door. She turns back to look at Damian, she hears a groan but he makes no move to get up. He still appears to be asleep, 'thank God,' she thinks to herself, feeling relieved, in her bare feet she slinks out of the room in much need of some fresh air ignoring the cold floor beneath her. She walks downstairs her purple striped pajama bottoms dragging along the floor until she makes her way to the back veranda. Feeling an ice cold breeze pass through Amanda starts rubbing her hands on her bare arms in an attempt to warm herself up. Once the breeze calms she sits down, pulls her knees to chest and looks up to the clear night sky , just thinking to herself. The twinkling stars shine so brightly and the full moon sheds light on the garden creating a beautiful scene, but yet, negative thoughts cloud her mind. Then, footsteps approach which go unnoticed by Amanda as her mind is elsewhere. He drapes the blanket over her shoulders and sits down beside her. Amanda lets out a gasp of suprise as she turns to see him but is quickly filled with relief when she sees that it's not Damian beside her, but rather his best friend Eric. Eric continues to face forward and Amanda resumes looking up at the stars, silence reining between the two. "You know you're really something." Amanda looks at him confused by Eric's words as she pulls the falling blanket back over her shoulders. "It's been one riddle after another with you and I hate riddles." Amanda already guessed that he didn't like her but his words still cut her deeply , for reasons doesn't know. "Sorry." Amanda whispers. "Oh no don't worry about it, actually I came to thank you."  "Thank me?" Amanda asks. "Yeah because of you I've seen a gradual change in him." Amanda didn't need to read minds to know he was talking about Damian, because of that her mood dropped further than before as she recalled her nightmare. Eric notices her sudden slump of depression and feels the need to comfort her. He looks at her and smiles. "Look I know k********g wasn't the ideal way to bring you here coming here. And the way he'd been treating you isn't like that of a princess from some Disney film." Eric says sympathetically causing Amanda to look up to his nice face lit up by the moonlight. "But believe me when I say that Damian isn't as scary as he seems. He may come off as a monster, with his possessiveness and utter stupidity." Eric's words cause Amanda to slightly chuckle as she waits for him to continue. "You want to run. I understand that, but in order for him to become a better person he needs your help."  'Help huh,' Amanda doesn't feel so sure as she clutches onto the blanket Eric gave her. "He doesn't need me. I'm nothing but a game to him, a challenge, and when he gets what he wants he'll throw me away like a broken toy." Eric face holds firm as he looks at her, absorbing her words. He places one hand on her back, to which she doesn't object. "You're more special to him then you realise. If you stick around long enough you may just see what I mean."  Eric's words touched her causing her to smile. "You're such a good friend Eric." Amanda says as she leans on his shoulder feeling sleepy. "Why couldn't I have been mated with you?" Amanda whispers as she drifts off still leaning Eric's warm body, leaving Eric a bit surprised but strangely happy as he let a smile grace his features. However, unbeknownst to Eric someone was hiding in the shadows eagerly watching their every move. *********** Next Morning Amanda woke up feeling more peace than she has in a long time, she stretched and looked around and noticed that she was lying on the couch in the loungeroom rather than being in Damian's room, not that she minded.  It was still early and no one was up yet so she decided to make some breakfast, and headed to the kitchen to make some bacon, eggs on toast and some pancakes for Damian and herself. She couldn't help but feel grateful to Eric, because he was right she needed to get to know him before making any rash decisions, after all it was only a dream, nothing more.  As if on cue Eric walks in fully clothed and looking a bit ragged but in a charming sort of way.. "Hey Eric. Would like something to eat?" "Yeah thanks." Eric responded quickly as he sat down. Amanda pointed to the food on the bench and invited him to help himself because there's plenty to go around. "You seem chipper this morning." "Yeah and it's all thanks to you." She looked over towards Eric and leaned on the bench. "You told me what I needed to hear, thank you." "You're welcome." Eric is taken a back but maintains his hard expression as he answers. "cough cough Am I interrupting?" Damian P.O.V  When I entered immediately Amanda turned from smiling and happy to shy and quiet which annoyed me. "Please don't stop on my account." I say as I can feel my anger bubbling inside of me and my wolf, when I sit and look between Amanda and Eric. I look at the food on the table and on Eric's plate. "May I?" "What? Ah sure." She seems distracted and looks at Eric. "I think I'm going to train now. Thanks for the food Amanda." Amanda smiles in response, which my wolf doesn't like. Eric slips out leaving the two of us alone. 'What the hell was that?' I think to myself as I dig in to the food trying to maintain my composure.
