Cover your ass (Brandon)

948 Words
This chick has some balls. First about Jessie, she did not look or act that young. When Rose put her in her place, I was still in shock about her age that I almost missed how tactfully she got Jessie to leave. Second when she walked into my office, like she owned the place, and grabbed the legal document and key and put it down her shirt. If she were any other woman, I would’ve been more than happy for that challenge, but she looked like she was daring me to challenge her.              I need to call Grandpa about her and this document. I pulled out my phone and dialed his number.                “Hi Brandon, how’s it going? How’s the shop?”              “Hi Grandpa. It’s all good the shop is staying busy. I was calling about this girl named Rose Allen. Do you remember her?”              I hear a chuckle on the other side of the phone. This is going to be good. If she got my grandpa to chuckle, she’s very special to him.              “Of course, I remember her. When her car first needed an oil change, she made an appointment with me but her dad and brothers gave her so much hell that she canceled and her dad taught her.” That explains her comment to Jessie. He continues “Rose felt so bad that she canceled her appointment that she came by the shop and apologized and brought some sweet rolls. I would let her work on her car by herself in the shop if it wasn’t busy. If it was I would make a spot for her in exchange for some of her sweet rolls and a little help in the office. One day my insurance agent came out and saw her working and made a big ole fit about it. So, we had a lawyer draw up that paper that she has probably shoved in your face. How is she doing?”              “She’s fine. She hit a deer today. Is she always that edgy?”, I ask.              He chuckles again. Oh s**t. “No normally she is very calm and collected; however, I’ve seen her make grown men cry, but she’ll only do it if necessary. What did you do? How does her car look?              I don’t want to tell him that I forgot about her so I walk out to her car, that way I can describe the damage to him. It looks worse the longer I look at it. “The hood is crumpled and the bumper and passenger quarter panel are missing. I haven’t looked under the hood yet but it should all be fixable. She talked about a parts car; do you know anything about it?              “Yeah, the parts car is good. She had me check it out before she bought when she needed to replace most of the rear end. Now, I’m not going to ask again, what did you do to piss her off?”              Damn I should have asked about Aunt Laura, my dad’s oldest sister, he loves to talk about her and her kids. I really don’t want to tell him the truth but then I don’t want Rose to tell him because she will over exaggerate the circumstances. But I know that he’ll keep badgering me if I don’t answer so I’ll just tell him a shorter version. “I got busy working on a project and forgot that I had to pick her up.” “How long was it before you remembered or did she have to call?” I looked down at the ground. Even though he wasn’t there I still felt very ashamed because I let my own pleasures get in the way for my work and this opportunity that Grandpa gave me. “She had to call. It was a little over three hours since she first called. I did tell her that it was going to be a bit but I didn’t think I was going to get so wrapped in this project.” Hopefully he doesn’t ask what my project was. I feel like a little kid again.  Grandpa is quiet for a long while. “Well since you made it hard on yourself it’ll probably be easier for you to let her do her own thing and stay out of her way.” “Yes sir.” I say. I need to end the call on a positive note. “How’s Aunt Laura and her kids?” We spent about another twenty minutes talking about what Jack and John were up to the then said our goodbyes. Thinking back to Rose I need to be prepared for what she might throw my way. Her insurance agent should be here after lunch to get my quote so I better get started.  Even though it’s after working hours this is one way to keep me out of trouble. I think back on Rose’s dare and the way she walked out of the shop, her sass, confidence, and the way she moves her body when she walked away kept making me want to find a way to keep her there. Even if it was just insults and jabs at my character I could still see her in those man killer jeans and her intoxicating smile. How does any teenager boy in high school get anything accomplished with a raging hard on like the one I had in the truck on our way back here. I had to keep thinking about what my grandpa would do if he found out that I f**k a client. It would not be pretty and now that I know that Rose is one of his favorite people I definitely would have been in so much trouble.
