Nilian pov
I call bullshit, not only am I being forced to spend time with that freak they are telling me if I don’t I’m not gonna play the last game of the season.
My hands slap against the wall in the men's bathroom leaving a hand print dented into it.
I need to calm down, West still has a little control and if I don’t get it together I’ll go full wolf.
“Inhale, exhale.”
I focus on the breathing exercises Anthony taught me the other day, but I’m just too irritated and I don’t think it’s working.
My mind begins working like a clock, if I don’t have her help I wouldn’t be able to play and playing keeps me level headed. If she helps everyone would look at me as a walking joke
If I decide to just go full Aloha on them, I’ll get to play but lose their respect. Ohh for the love of.. dropping my head in defeat I slam the bathroom door behind me breaking it loose from the henges as I head to the schools library.
“What do you have against her?” West my wolf ask
“Against who?” I ask back
“The girl, the girl with the ancient eyes.”
“What.. who .. are you talking about Lilian, I have nothing against her.I just don’t like her weak behavior. I know omegas are of the lower rank, but some of them have a back bone.
She behaves like they removed her spine at birth and forgot to put it back, but I guess the dish that life served her caused her to be that way.”
“What do you mean?”
“ She is an orphan that was adopted by a human and a wolf, her father died and her mother hates her. Everyone in school picks on her and she hides away in the library, classes and her room just to have peace.”
“Hmm..”
“I know things ok, I’m the next in-line alpha. I need to know what’s going on in my pack and since when your asking questions..”
Silence!
Grabbing at the big brown oak doors of the library, I take a big swallow and walk into the room, the door slams shut behind me and everyone turns in my direction.
The librarian points at the quiet sign behind me and I roll my eyes. While searching the different sitting areas I spotted coach Carter doing the same.
“Please tell me you're here to apologize and ask her for help, because we really need you to play the finals.” He whispers clearly not wanting to upset his secret crush.
“I am, but what are you doing here?”
“Me, I came with a proposal she can’t resist.”
We spot her at the same time, head buried in a human anatomy book.
Coach Carter tapped her on the shoulder and she almost jumped out her skeleton, when her eyes landed on me and you could see the fright visible.
“I came to apologize and ask for your help.”
“And I came with a proposal you’d want to hear.” Coach Carter smiled.
“No and No.” she grabs up her books and begins to walking away.
“You don’t do well in your physical education classes and that would mean I have to fail you unless you help us.” Her eyes went from fright to defeat.
“And you know in order to complete your course you need to pass physical education.” His smile grows wider and wider with every step she takes back towards us.
“Fine, but I’m not doing this because I want to.” She opens back her books and takes a seat.
“Great we have a deal, there is one more thing doh.. you would need to at least participate in one class.. so you should join us for one of our track and field classes. I mean it’s not hard to run so basically it’s an easy pass.”
“Uhhhhhhh… I can’t run.” She replies softly
“Well our star football player will help you out with that.” He pats us on our shoulders and disappears leaving a trail of humming.
I pull a chair and drop my body next to her, scratching at my head trying to figure out how to apologize or start a conversation.
“I’m sorry about earlier, I’m having a hard time controlling West and.”
“It’s ok, the quicker you pass the quicker we don’t have to be in each other’s space.”
She looks up at me and our eyes lock up, I’ve never really looked at her eyes close up. The first time I saw her when we were younger it scared the hell out of me.
My dad on the other hand says she has the eyes of knowledge and that we would never understand until we did. Whatever the hell that meant.
“I didn’t know your eyes had gold in them as well.”
“Neither did I.” she replied.
“So how are we going to do this, I’m pretty sure you're not going to want to be seen with me and I honestly don’t want to be seen with you.” Her words hit my ego but she’s right, the guys would ask too many questions and I really don’t need Sarsha's nagging voice in my business.
“How about we meet at the waterfall after school?”
“It would have to be a lot later than that, I have classes that finish around 4.”
“Cool, I'll meet you at 5pm.” She just shakes her head in agreement.
“Yoooo west, what are you doing in this hell hole?” I hear Tyler’s voice coming from the entrance.
Quickly I jumped from my seat and walked swiftly towards them before they could see us together.
“Pathetic.” The word leaves her mouth softly.
“Then that makes two of us.” I walk back
In her direction.
“The difference between mine and yours is, I wear mine, I know I am but you , you hide yours behind your pretty face and Alpha name.”
She then grabs her things and leaves me there rethinking my spine comment, maybe she does have one after all.
After class Sarah pulled me in a corner inviting me over for dinner, going in and about how her father head warrior is glad I finally agreed to take her as Luna and to thank me he is inviting me for dinner.
I turn down the invitation telling her I had to study for the finals or I wouldn’t be able play the game and she knows how important the finale game is.
After being hesitant she finally agrees and I leave her standing in the halls alone as I hurry off to practice with the boys.
Training went on for hours and hours finally coming to an end, coach is going hard he isn’t taking no for an answer nor any laziness is allowed.
Finally I could sit and rest my feet a little before heading home, after showering I jump in my car and head to the nearest bakery in town deciding ti reward myself with a freshly bake doughnut.
Cream on the inside and sugar on top what a reward it is indeed, while heading back to the pack grounds I spot one of the warriors heading back as well and I offer him a lift.
On the driver home we talk about pack training etc when my BETA mind linked me and the warriors giving us a heads up.
“Troll was sited near the waterfall.” He said.
“Put out a warning that everyone should head indoors.” My father replied.
“For some strange reason the waterfall keeps coming to mind I just can’t put my finger on it.”
Jacob said.
“It will come to you.” I replied
“Ohh Lilian, the girl with the two colored eyes I saw her heading in that direction a little while ago I wonder if she left already. Seeing that her wolf is dormant and she wouldn’t get the signal.”
Realization finally hit me.
“Ohh fuck.” I pumped the gas and headed in the direction of the waterfall.
