Friday, It’s been two days I stayed at home after my panic attack incident. Mrs Simpson checked up on me on the phone I don’t know how many times during the two days but she couldn’t come because she says they were quite busy as she was both receptionist and personal assistant at the same time because they were still looking for my replacement. Mrs Simpson finally accepted that I won’t be coming back. I know I always say Sebastian has a huge ego but I just realized that we’re no different and I’m not even ashamed. I’m on my way to two restaurants I saw adverts of and I’m lucky because they’re just 5 minutes away if you drive and maybe 15 if you walk from my apartment so I decided on walking after my fat breakfast. I feel a lot better physically and emotionally than I did two days ago and it’s all thanks to Mrs Simpson and Rose`, my best friend. They have been checking on me and Rose at first didn’t believe I didn’t know Sebastian and that I was rude to him but when I told her the whole story we concluded that we don’t like him. That’s what I love about her she always took my side. I walked to the first restaurant, Mandy’s, it was cute and refreshing. I would describe it as where people of any class can dine and not be judged. I liked it but it also felt like the place where old man would want to grope you in your little waitress uniform but I brushed all that off and went to ask for the manager. It was a lady maybe in her late 30s and she took my resume and said she’d look at it and call to let me know the outcome so I went to the next restaurant, it was a few blocks away from my the first one it didn’t even take a minute to get there and I was welcomed by this nerdy looking guy who looked a little older than me. The restaurant was a 4 star and it was classy but comfortable and welcoming. I could see myself working here. People looked like they were minding their own business but they looked kinda overdressed. The only thing that’d make me get fired here would be when I tell rich spoilt brats where to get off and get ‘the customer is always right’ bullshit. This guy who introduced himself as Joe led me to his little office.
‘Please take a seat.’ he said slightly smiling at me and I smiled back taking a seat. He clumsily opened my resume and I swear his eyeballs were inches away from falling apart. I cleared my throat to bring him back from his own world.
‘ so uh... so you worked with/for thee Matthew Grande?’ He said like he was talking about some hero, only if he knew. My father was far from a hero he was the devil himself. I nodded because I didn’t trust anything that could come out of my mouth about him and I didn’t wanna ruin my chances.
‘ I see you stopped working for the company a year ago? So have you been working in that short space?’ He asked closing my resume.
‘ uh I worked for some fool called Sebastian Condos only for one day though because he fired me that’s why you don’t see his Company as a reference.’ His eyes bulged for no reason at all.
‘What did you do?’ He asked like he didn’t believe what I was telling him.
‘ why would you assume I did something Joey? Do I look like a bad girl?’ He turned red in seconds and I was laughing so hard inside.
‘ no forgive that question Ms Aurora.’ I waved my hand flipping off his statement.
‘ he was rude and I don’t do rude so it wasn’t working because I was the only one not afraid of him. He has a huge ego as his d**k, at least that’s what I’ve been told.’ I said laughing and little Joey seemed like he would explode with embarrassment so I said a simple sorry and indicated that he can continue.
‘ so why would a girl with a business management degree want to work as an assistant manager.’
‘ that’s the point of studying business management and besides not everyone with a degree starts at the top and I want to give orders for a change in my life.’ he smiled at that.
‘ well you will do a lot of that because now that we’re opening more restaurants I’ll he scarce around here.’ he said putting my resume in a file in front of him. I am SHOOK!
‘ does that mean you’re hiring me?’ He nods smiling.
‘Yes, I think you’re brave and fair since you don’t tolerate disrespect so I’m assuming you’re a really good problem solver and you’ll respect everyone here.’
‘Wow, thank you so much.’ I didn’t even know I’d get interviewed today I was just dropping off resumes. He extends his hand to officially welcome me to the team and I gladly take it.
‘ you’ll be starting Monday. I’ll call you if anything comes up and we’ll email you the details of the job.’ he said when I get up from the chair. I say thank you one last time and make my way out. My week is ending on a happy note and I think I deserve to treat myself to a restaurant. My all time favorite restaurant is a Thailand restaurant in the same block as my apartment so I firstly go and change into something simple and take my wallet with me. Solo dates are my favorites because I get to order whatever I like and whenever. I can eat as much as I like and today is that day because I am celebrating my employment. I wasn’t really expecting to be hired that easily I was already ready to use my savings for at least a few months before I get hired but I guess G*d is by my side. Today was Friday meaning people are going out and some binging on Netflix and I was one of those. After my lunch at the restaurant I planned on locking myself for the whole weekend in my room.
