That’s what got me fired!

I was in the store room overseeing the remaining stock for our next order, Joe put me in charge because he said he trusted me and I’ll have to report back to him. When I was done I walked back to his office only to meet him halfway.

‘ Hey Rory please see me in my office it’s about the staff roster, we just added two staff members.’ He said continuing his walk to the direction of where I’m coming from so I just left to wait in the office, soon to be mine. I opened the door to a figure sitting on Joe’s chair and I mistakenly banged the door because I was shocked.

‘ What are you doing here?’ I said looking at Sebastian who sat on the chair comfortably like he owned it.

‘ I see you’re very lucky at finding jobs.’ he said amused.

‘ I guess I am not the one with an attitude after all.’ he shrugged and got up taking a few calculated steps towards me.

‘ I came to apologize.’ he said like he was finding it hard to apologize.

‘ I’m not going to change my mind.’ I said using his own words when I apologized when he fired me and he seems to notice because guilt was written on his face.

‘ as Sebastian Corp, we admit to being unfair...’ I interrupted him.

‘ who’s we? You’re the one that fired me!’ I said getting angry all over again remembering that day he made me feel horrible.

‘ calm down, don’t get angry.’ he said taking yet another few steps towards looking worried like he remembered the day I was in hospital. He looked like he wanted to touch my face but restrained himself. I couldn’t even move because I was on the same place I was when I came in, the door was closed though and I could feel my back brushing on it. I finally calmed down after some breathing exercises, I hated looking this vulnerable in front of him and to top it all he now knew what happened if I get angry because he was at the hospital with me. He breathed out looking relieved but his eyes never leaving mine. They were piercing into my heart and it’s like he was looking for a place he could claim as his own.

‘ are you okay?’ he said when he realized I wasn’t backing down from the stare. How could he ask me that? I gave him the same cold glare he gave me in his office not believing that just came out of his mouth.

‘ you of all people don’t get to ask me that! That’s what got me fired in the first place. Caring! Stop acting like you give a damn!’

‘ Ms Marcello...’

‘It’s Aurora to you. I don’t work for you anymore.’

‘ I care, you were once my worker and you ended up being in the hospital because of me.’

‘ don’t flatter yourself, you don’t know what caused my panic attack.’ I said folding my arms in front of my chest.

‘ you were angry.’ how could he possibly knew that.

‘ and you think I was angry at you? I was actually glad I dodged a bullet.’

‘ you may not have been angry at me but I know it somehow triggered some memories.’

‘ and I’m sure you’re so proud.’ I said in a congratulatory manner. He clenched his jaws like he was losing his patience and he took the last step towards me and my breath hitched. He was too close for my comfort but his breath and cologne where intoxicating and I didn’t push him away.

‘Aurora..’ he said whispering in my ear after tucking my hair behind my ear sending shivers down my spine.

‘ Sebastian.’ I said in a moaning voice, putting both my hands on his chest stopping him from saying anything before I act like a hoe because of his seductive ways.

‘get back.’ I said trying to sound normal and he did. His eyes looking a darker shade than before. He went back to his seat or should I say Joe’s?

‘ come back.’ was his ice breaking statement after a while being quiet.

‘ why should I?’ I asked really waiting to hear his reasons because I was sure there was no way to convince me.

‘ because you said you quit for personal reasons and I know you want to prove someone wrong for some reasons known only by you.’

‘ you want to really prove yourself or someone wrong so you came to one of the busiest cities even thought it doesn’t align with your brand.’

‘What are you exactly saying?’ I asked him.

‘ come work for me, we have the same sentiments about this company.’

‘ so what do you suggest?’ I said looking too interested for my liking and not bothering correcting him but nothing I would do because he seems to know a lot about me in a very short space. One thing I wish he’d never find out though is that Mr Grande is actually my father.

‘ in the past 4 years you worked there you had a way to put the company’s name in the top and I believe you can still bring it down especially when working with with its biggest rivalry.’

‘ what makes you think I really want to avenge something?’ He smirked, oh hey he’s back.

‘ you just confirmed it yourself and you didn’t correct me.’

‘ I don’t want to work for you Sebastian and I just got hired here. I can’t have a reputation for working only one day now can I?’ he got up from the chair and took what looked like it’s a document.

‘Think about it.’ he said as I got out of his way and he opened the door and left just like that. Whew! I always feel like I’m suffocating when I’m with him.
