Chapter 5 It hadn’t taken them too long to buy the groceries and arrive at the house. James hesitated at the stairs, no doubt remembering how she’d pulled away from him at the hospital. At the time, she’d been so terrified she’d rejected anyone’s touch: the doctors, the nurses, and she’d pulled away from James when he’d arrived. Though he’d understood, she’d still seen the flash of pain at her fearing him. Once she’d begun healing and had calmed some, she had moved past the fear, at least for her siblings and her best friend Jazza. All others’ touch still startled her, and she was hesitant to reach out to anyone, male or female.
