Jessie made scant progress on the renovation, in large part due to her inability to pick up the phone and call Galen. She’d already gone through the house room-by-room and sorted out what would be kept, sold, or given away, and what furnishings and decorations she wanted to add. She’d also made a list of the work that needed to be done as well as putting together a large notebook filled with clippings, sketches, work lists, and price estimates for everything.
The one thing she’d managed to avoid doing was looking up Galen’s number. Every morning, she’d tell herself “this is the day,” but by evening she’d “accidentally” overlook it until it was too late. Thanks to the Internet, she knew she’d be able to order furnishings, fixtures, and what-not and have it shipped directly
