Kina I dialed Kyle’s number and waited for him to answer. The phone rang for so long that I was sure I would get voicemail. I was so nervous that my palms were sweaty and my heart was pounding. I was starting to prepare what I wanted to say in my mind when he answered. By the time he did, I was rather surprised, since I was expecting him to ignore me. I figured he must not know my number. “It’s me,” I said. “I know.” Maybe that was why he’d taken so long to answer.
