BIANCA
Candace hasn’t changed, she is still a slut and still a bully. I caught sight of the man she was with before he scurried away like a rat.
I wish I could say her husband didn’t deserve a woman like her, but he was just as disgusting as she was.
Someone handed a tray to me and I was forced to mingle among the throng of high society.
I made a mental note of everyone present; I had a layout of the mansion already memorized. I did not however know the rat that skulked away from Candace.
I saw some of the same group that the Queen Bee used to run with when she was younger, only they were older, some were fatter, and others like Candace obviously had too much work done.
I smiled to myself because they were all fat and arrogant. They had no idea that the girl they bullied and mocked in school held their very lives in her hands.
I made my way around the room, and a few of the women eyed me.
I knew they probably recognized me. I still looked the same. The same girl from Parkview just all grown up.
“Oh waitress come on over here, I am sure you recognize some of the women here.” I grit my teeth and try to ignore the fact that Candace was baiting me.
I was not that same teenage girl who would rise to their bait.
“Madam, it is rude to harass the maids while they are trying to do their job. Sir has sent me to fetch you. He said the mayor has been looking for you.” A broad back blocked my view of Candace and I was grateful.
If she had seen the look on my face, I would have either been fired or in true Canny girl fashion, made to be a spectacle where she was the center of attention.
“Renfield, if my husband wants me, he can come get me and not send his underling. Now get out of the way I am addressing MY maid.” I hurried away before she could single me out again.
Her loud screeching voice was starting to draw attention and I didn’t want anyone to notice me. It was better to stay under the radar for the next part of my plan.
Of course it had to be that shrew and she never learned the art of subtlety.
“Candace Marianne Watson! How dare you embarrass me in front of everyone.” The room went silent and we all looked at Candace’s husband as he leaned over the banister. His face was red and he was sweating.
I glanced at my watch and frowned. It shouldn’t have taken effect that quickly. The man was out of shape and had a bad heart, but even Linus’s cocktails didn’t work that quickly.
I glanced at his wife and saw a smirk on her face. Of course, so the rumors were true she was slowly killing him over these years.
I hurried to the kitchen as people began to scream and I heard a thud on the floor. Waiters flew past me yelling at everyone to call 911 and I knew I had to get lost in the pandemonium.
I also knew it wouldn’t look good if I left the premises. However, the best thing about being plain and the hired help-no one paid attention to you. I hurried out of there and decided to come back another time.
I couldn’t help but feel like I just helped Candace kill her husband and that irritated me to no end.
“Hey, meet me around back we have a situation.” I slunk out of there with my tail between my legs.
I felt like someone was watching me and I shouldn’t have looked back but I did and saw the mountain of a man named Renfield watching me.
He narrowed his eyes at me and didn’t pursue me.
That was a win, even if my plan did end up being ruined by the drama queen.
