Chapter Seventy-Eight
Lily's POV
Nothing Stays Hidden
My heart pounds so hard that I can hear it in my ears as the knock comes again.
“Lily.”
I recognize the voice immediately. It's Irina.
Panic rushes through me. My eyes dart towards my laptop. The USB is still plugged into it and the documents are scattered across my bed.
"Damn it." I rush forward as I grab the laptop and I nearly drop it in my haste.
Without thinking twice, I pull out the USB and shove both beneath my bed.
A few papers slide onto the floor which I quickly kick them underneath as well.
Another knock follows.
“Are you asleep?”
“No,” I responded. I know my voice sounded strange.
I take a deep breath before walking towards the door.
When I open it, Irina is standing there. Her eyes immediately move past me.
