The Cursed Luna’s Redemption

Chapter 2

Raine’s POV

I was disappointed to see the usual alpha guards come in after so much drama. I was used to their beatings already, so I knew this wasn’t going to be any different. I stood at a corner squinting my eyes, expecting to be punched by them but to my greatest surprise, they didn’t lay a finger on me.

One of the guard held my hands to the back and tied it while the other blindfolded me. This was strange compared to what I was used to so fear gripped me at that very moment. I was unaware of my environment, I could only hear whispers and laughter from Sonia and the others present in the room at that moment.

“You dare talk to your alpha in such manner? I will deal with you today,” the alpha said in a loud tone, hitting his palms together continuously.

I was so dogged at that moment and wasn’t interested in apologizing. I’ve always been mute all this while so I felt if I don’t stand up to defend myself, people will keep bullying me.

But at this point, I started having second thoughts. Maybe this is a very bad time to change, I shouldn’t have spoken back to the alpha.

“I’m sorry, Alpha,” I said as I stuck my nose in the air.

“It’s a little late for that, you’re going to be punished, I promise you that,” he replied.

I stood there mute, wondering why Jake had been so quiet for a while.

Jake might deceive everyone that Sonia is his mate, but truth remains that I am his mate and our connection is still strong as ever until we break it. He sat there squeezing his hands tight and holding a tight fist, it felt like he was fighting his wolf within. Of course, your wolf will be uneasy if he sees its mate being ridiculed and in pains.

The guards tightened my blindfold, and dragged me out of the principal’s office like a criminal. This was all new to me but I was certain they can’t kill me, I’m still a member of the pack. We entered a car and they drove for about 10 minutes.

I was so frightened at that moment because I couldn’t hear car horns outside, it felt like I was kidn*pped but I still kept my cool because I knew the Alpha wouldn’t want to kill me, he might hate me but not to that extent.

Suddenly, the vehicle stopped and they dragged me out of the car.

“Where am I?” I screamed trying to get the attention of people around.

“Help me, please help me!” I screamed louder at the top of my voice but all to no avail.

I tried studying my surroundings as we were moving. Suddenly, I realised us going down a stairs. That was strange because I can’t remember us going up at any point in time. It happened that we were going underground.

We got to a room, then they removed my blind fold and pushed me to the ground.

“Where am I?” I asked the guards,

One of them responded and said, “you’ve been coming here for years and you never came across this room? So stupid,”

“Are we at the alpha’s mansion?” I asked, scrunching up my face.

They both laughed and left the room, jamming the door behind them.

I quickly ran to open the door but it was locked. My thoughts ran wild, I never knew an underground room existed here, I only saw underground buildings in movies.

I checked around, the room was empty. Just a bed and a small window inclusive. “Not so bad, at least there’s a bed,” I thought,

I sat on the bed for hours anticipating the next surprise but nothing still.

Just as I was about giving up, I heard footsteps echo from the stairs. My heart began racing and I was already anticipating ass whooping.

The footsteps were slow and steady which got me nervous, It was taking forever I couldn’t wait to see who it was. I chewed on my bottom lips, grabbing unto the pillow tightly as the person approached.

“I hope you’re enjoying your stay down here?” Sonia asked as she sized me up from head to toe.

“Oh, it’s you,” I hissed and went back to sit.

“Why do you hate me much, Sonia? I’m your blood sister for crying out loud,” I asked scrunching up my face.

“Blood sister? Never! Who would want a sister like you? You cursed witch,” she responded

“Call me cursed one more time and you wouldn’t like what I would do to you,” I said, curling my fingers into a fist.

Sonia laughed out loud and responded, “ it seems you’ve forgotten you’re inside a prison, that’s what suits you best.” She said

“You’re cursed Raine, you killed our mother, why do you think I’ll forgive you even after all that?” She added.

“Mom died of natural causes, there are several others that die during labour so what makes mine so different? The faster you accept that fact, the better for you,” I responded with tears streaming down my face.

“Enough with the crocodile tears, mother was one of the strongest warriors during her time and so a mere child labour couldn’t have killed her. You are cursed by the moon goddess,” she kept on hammering that.

I wiped my tears, walked up to her and asked, “so what are you doing down here? Did you come here just to abuse me? Because that won’t work, I’m used to it already.”

She grinned and responded, “as you’re aware, I’m going to be your future Luna and rule alongside Jake.”

“Yeah, I’m very much aware. You stole my mate remember? Why would I forget something like that?” I said.

“Besides, you can have him, I’m not interested in him or the position anyway,” I added.

“That’s perfect, but I’m going to make sure that stays that way in case you have ulterior motive,” she said.

“Ulterior motive? And how do you plan on doing that?” I asked, a vein popping out in my neck.

“I’m going to make sure I get rid of you,” she said, her eyes boring into me as she stomped her feet on the ground.

“I’m lost, what do you mean, get rid of me?” My brows snapped together as I asked.

“As long as you exist, you’ll continue to be a threat to I and Jake. I’m going to end you for good,” she replied.

I scrunched up my face trying to make meaning out of what she said, “if I get you right, do you want to kill me?” I asked and laughed out loud, I wasn’t scared of dying since I was literally living in hell already.

“I heard the Alpha king is looking for a breeder, you’ll be perfect for that position,” she said.

“You must be kidding me, you can’t force me to be a breeder. I won’t accept that, I can promise you that,” I said sternly, boring my eyes into hers.

“Oh little sister, you don’t have a choice. It’s either that or you rot down here,” she added.

I laughed out loud, stomping my feet on the ground and replied, “let me see you try,” I said.

I went on, “you can’t force anyone to be a king breeder, it has to be of her free will so I’m sorry big sister, that’s not happening.”

“That’s definitely happening,” a voice said aloud from the stairs as he gradually stomped the feet towards our direction.

“I’m your alpha-to-be, and I’m so sure you wouldn’t want to disobey my orders,” Jake said.

“Oh it’s you,” I said as I hissed loudly.

“I promise you I’m going to make your life a living hell if you refuse to go,” Jake said.

I laughed out loudly and responded, “incase you aren’t aware, my life is a living hell already,”

“Oh trust me, you haven’t seen hell yet,” he responded.

I stood in my cell, watching them rant endlessly. I was so sure there was nothing they could do to send me off just like that. An alpha king can’t accept anyone that was forced to be his breeder, it has to be of their free will.

I was so certain their plan wasn’t going to work because there was nothing or no one they could use to threaten me to heed to their requests so I remained stern about my decision.

How about your precious friend, Zane? She asked

How could I have forgotten that. Zane was the only weakness I had. Sonia knew very much that I cherish her so well and would do anything to protect her. I feared she was going to use that against me but I still tried to play it cool.

And what about her? I asked

Have you heard from her lately? She asked as she gave a wide grin.

I became so disturbed because I knew Sonia can go at any length to fulfil her wishes.

“If you touch a strand of her hair, I won’t take it easy on you, I can promise you that,” I said as my fingers curled into a fist.

Sonia gave me a dirty look and bursted into laughter without uttering a single word.

“How’s she? Is she okay? I asked

“Maybe, maybe not,” a deep voice responded from the corridor.

I looked closely to check who spoke and saw that it was the alpha. I became so scared when I realised he could hurt my best friend just to get to me. She is the only person I care about and would literally do anything to make sure she safe; including being the king’s breeder.

“She’s fine for now, but who knows what could happen in future? We never can tell,” the alpha said.

I punched the gates so hard, creating a little dent on it. I was shocked where I got that much strength from.

“I won’t say more than that, I trust you’ll make the right decisions now,” the alpha said.

He kept on speaking as he dipped his hands into his pockets, “I’m quite aware you’re still young so I’m going to leave you till you finish schooling in a few months time.”

That relieved me a bit, but I was disappointed they couldn’t even wait till I was 18 to confirm if my wolf was going to appear but I guess their hatred for me had clouded their judgement.

“Enough talking, it’s time to teach you a lesson,” he said as his fingers turned into a fist.

Suddenly, the same soldiers entered my cell, one of them had an injection on his right arm containing wolfsbane.

“What’s that? Are you trying to kill me with that? Help me!” I screamed for help at the top of my voice but all to no avail.

“You seem to forget you’re underground, I’m sorry but no one hear you from down here. He said as they all laughed out loud.

“Somebody help me!” I kept on screaming as they came closer.
