Chapter 5

ASHINA I remained inside the car while Tre unload my stuff. Aside from the maids, no one else is in sight. I felt relieved that Tyr was not in the house. “Are you going to live there or what?” “I’m coming out. Don’t be so excited.” I rolled my eyes as he opened the car door. I saw a glimpse of my luggage as one of the maids took it inside. We entered the house and it was pretty quiet. Somehow, it felt different, like this is where I belong. “Hello Luna, I am Mildred, the cook. I was wondering if there is anything in particular that you’d like for lunch.” The woman in her sixties smiled at me. “I’m not—“ I felt Tre’s hand on mine. He was simply reminding me of our agreement. "Soup and sandwich would fine. Thank you, Mildred." "Certainly, Luna." She politely said goodbye to me, and I was left alone with Tre again. He motioned for me to follow him, and I was surprised when I realized we were heading to his room. "Shouldn't I be sleeping in the guest room?" I furrowed my eyebrows as we entered. I didn't intend to stay there, but I also didn't want his household staff to suspect anything. "We're not married yet, right?" "But you're my mate. Everyone will expect that we will share a room. You also mentioned that we need to practice. You have to be comfortable with me." He placed my belongings next to the closet and walked back towards me. "Are you scared of me?" We were only a few steps apart, but I could hear the beating of his heart. "Of course not." I held back from meeting his gaze. "But you can't touch me." He raised an eyebrow. I wanted to add that he shouldn't touch me unless he plans to follow through. "I am only here to help you with your grandmother and put on a show for everyone. Nothing else. Is that clear? Do we need to sign a contract? You know what, we should have a contract about this." He stared at me for a moment. "A contract is not a bad idea. Why don't you make a list of what we can't do while I make some calls? When you're done, I'll call my lawyer and draft the agreement." Finally, I could breathe. I knew he would honor his word. He was about to leave the room when he turned around and said, "I still have the final say, so just make sure it's fair for the both of us." *** He didn't join me for lunch, but Tre called me a little bit later to his study. I emailed him my list. When I entered the room, I just noticed the number of books there. It's like the bookshelf has been added to. I didn't notice that before and I've been here once or twice. It's always been neat and tidy. Tyr said before that we're not allowed to bring food or drinks here, but we always disobey that. He wouldn't clean up afterwards so I would do it to avoid getting scolded by Tre. "Have a seat anywhere you like." Tre handed me the paper. He must have printed it for a better look. "I don't want to sit. I'm checking out the books." There's a section for mystery novels, but there are only a few romance ones and they're historical. I don't like those. Maybe there are less than five. "No kissing on the lips?" he exclaimed. "Yup!" "Even when there are people around?" "Yup!" I confirmed. "No way. That won't work. Couples kiss whenever they want. They hold each other. And what is this one? No hands below the waist?" "Yup!" I wanted to laugh at his reaction. "What's the big deal? You can't grab my butt in public because it's inappropriate. And if it's just the two of us, you're not allowed to do anything with me because we don't need to put on a show. Get it?" "Keep our clothes on at all times? If we need to change, we have to go to the bathroom and change in private? Are you serious?" I gave him a sweet smile, and he looks incredulous now. And before I knew it, my back was against the bookshelf. "W-What do you think you're doing?" I managed to ask. "Nothing yet." He got so close to me, I felt like our faces would switch places. Kidding aside, he's rousing so many different emotions inside me that I don't know if I myself can adhere to the dos and don'ts I wrote on the freaking list. I felt his hand on my waist, lightly squeezing while his lips were near my neck. All I could do was close my eyes and try not to breathe, though I failed miserably. His lips are not touching my skin… but I can feel his hot breath against it. It took me so much strength for me not to melt in his arms. My legs started to wobble. They felt like jelly. "Okay." He let me go and my body felt disappointed by losing the heat from his touch. He put a distance between us. "I will have the lawyer draft the contract, and it will include everything on your list." Tre walked back to his chair as I scrambled to compose myself. "If you fail to keep your end, there will be consequences." I swallowed. "And what would that be?" "You will marry me in every true sense of the word, and you will give me an heir." Marriage? Heir? I feel like I've been thrown into my current position. All of this started when she decided to help Tre with his grandmother. How did his intentions lead to reality? The only thing that is real between them is the mate bond, and she cannot avoid it until he accepts her rejection. Until then, they're stuck with each other.
