Chapter 10

ASHINA "You are going to be in trouble for this. Do you know that?" Tyr said when he brought my luggage to the guest room. He didn't enter the guest room the same way he did in Alpha's room. He told me to pack my things and put them all in the luggage, and he would wait in the hallway. Tyr told me which guest rooms were available for me to use, and I picked the farthest one from Alpha's bedroom. "Thanks." That's all I said to him before I closed the door. I didn't tell him what happened between Tre and I. It did not concern him. I sat on the bed and stared at the luggage near the door. I should take my clothes out and hang them in the closet, but I was feeling too lazy to do it, so I decided to do it later. I watched some random show on TV. My mind wasn't into it and I kept thinking back on what happened earlier today. Was I too harsh on him? Tre used to say I was a brat when I was little. However, there are times he would cave in to my demands, so I would stop— but even that was very, very rare. My parents and Tyr were the opposite, which was why I wasn't particularly fond of Tre back then. Having this time alone made me think the Moon Goddess didn't give me my heart's desire simply because I didn't deserve it. I'm selfish and immature and have a lot of growing up to do. Being mates with an Alpha was a big responsibility– one that I was not prepared for, even if it was just make-believe. I have so much to learn. Before I drifted off to sleep, I told myself I'd try my best to become a better version of myself. I want to help. I want to make myself useful for a change, so I can be the future Luna of some pack one day and the Alpha won't be ashamed of me. Tre wouldn't want someone like me anyway. I have to remind myself that this is only temporary, but while I am here— I will help him as much as I can and not cause anymore trouble. *** The sun was already setting by the time I woke up. No one disturbed me and I was thankful. I checked my phone and there was no message. Foxy was quiet too. I felt hungry, so after fixing myself, I opened the door only to find Tre with a bouquet of yellow roses which I love. I was too stunned to speak. "Hi." I just stared at him, and it didn't help that he wouldn't look away. His eyes were intense. "I'm sorry if I upset you earlier." He handed me the flowers. "Can you forgive me?" I took the flowers and still didn't say anything. I closed my eyes and smelled the roses. I still couldn't say a word as I was too overwhelmed. "Do you like this room?" I nodded. My heart was beating so fast and my tongue wouldn't cooperate. I couldn't utter a single word. I didn't expect him to apologize to me. I was the one who should apologize for being petty and overthinking things. "If you like this room, then it's okay if you want to stay here. I should have realized that you're not used to having someone in bed with you." He caressed my cheek then put his hands inside his pockets. Tre smiled a little and my heart ached to see him... sad. It didn't sit well with me that I caused that. "Food's ready when you're hungry. I'm going now." He turned around and started walking away from me. I closed my eyes and gathered the courage to call his name. He stopped walking but didn't turn around to face me. I walked towards him while still holding the flowers in my hand. I took his hand and intertwined it with mine. His eyes met mine and I swallowed a couple of times. "You shouldn't apologize to me. I was the one in the wrong, and I'm sorry that I–" Tre leaned down and kissed my lips gently. Our faces were too close, and I could feel his breath fanning my face. "You apologized." He said to me. "We should do the shower stuff more often." Tre winked at me and I felt my cheeks burn. I buried my face in his chest, so he wouldn't see me blush. "Stop it." I said to him in a muffled voice. He caressed my back, then I felt his arms wrap around me. "I was just teasing you. Do you want to have dinner together? I haven't eaten yet, and the maid said you didn't eat anything either." He whispered in my ear. I was still in his arms, enjoying his warmth. "Yes, but can you take me out for ice cream after?" He kissed the top of my head, then said, "I'll take you, and we'll go for a drive too." The two of us were having a nice dinner on the patio, and we talked about the ball. As embarrassing as it was, I asked about my dress and told him he didn't need to go with me next time because I already took so much of his time. "It's fine. I told them to reschedule for tomorrow after breakfast and I'll take you. Something came up in the office anyway, so it worked out in my end. How's the steak?" "Good. I like it medium." I glanced at his plate and frowned. "I don't like it bloody and rare." Tre laughed, and tried to make me take a small piece of his meat. "Try it." "No, thank you." "It's either you try it or you have to kiss me for five seconds." His eyes were twinkling and seeing this playful side of him made every fiber in my body burn for him. I reached for my apple juice and drank, then wiped my lips. Tre had his eyes on me the whole time and when I got up to sit on his lap, he picked up his fork, so I could taste his bloody steak. However, I closed the gap between us and gave him a kiss instead. For more than five seconds.
