It was 12 noon and Abitha had been up for the past two hours cooking and cleaning, so Stephanie and Kirsten could eat something before she left for work.  She ran into her sisters’ room, opened the blinds, and woke them.             “Stephanie!  Kirsten!  Come on, we gotta get ready to go.”             “I’m all ready, Abby.  Steph won’t get up.”             “Again?” she laughed.  “Alright, let’s get her!” Abitha and Kirsten walked over to Stephanie’s bed, climbed up and started jumping up and down on it.  “It’s-time-to-get-up ... it’s-time-to-get-up ... it’s-time-to-get-up ...,” they sang.             “Come on, guys.  Five more minutes,” Stephanie cried pulling the covers over her head.             “Steph, please,” Abitha started jumping off the bed with Kirsten.  “In five more minutes, you’ll be begging me for ten.  Now I realize it’s summer vacation and all that, but I still have to work plus ... get you over to Jeannie’s and Kirst to Michelle’s.  So, let’s go.”             “Yea!” Kirsten cheered.             “I’m sick of going to Jeannie’s house.”             “Then you can go to Anne’s.”             “No!”             “What do you mean No?”             “Why can’t we just stay here?” Stephanie asked.             “Because you know I can’t leave you here on your own.  Our situation …”             “Our situation, our situation,” she mocked.  “That’s all we hear about.  Who cares?”             “You better care!  Do you wanna get put back in the foster care system again and risk getting separated?  We were lucky last time.  You wanna try your luck again?”             “So, now you’re gonna put that on me?  Like I was Auntie Sue or something?”             “Answer the question!” Abitha demanded.  “Do you want to go back, Stephanie?”             “No,” she murmured.             “Then cooperate please?”             “Fine … but do I have to go to Jeannie’s house?”             “You know what?  You can go with Kirsten to Michelle’s.”             “What?” she exclaimed.  “What am I supposed to do with a couple of children?”             Abitha chuckled, “Play.”
