Kat was highly on edge. After Claudio’s surprise visit, she had it set in her mind that she wouldn’t sleep until she found a new place for her and her daughter to stay. There was no way she was going to let him get anywhere near her baby. But the question was: how in the world did he know where she was staying anyway? Her phone rang, and her heart dropped to her stomach. It might be Claudio, she thought. When she answered, she was relieved to hear that it wasn’t. “Jill? Hey! What brings you to callin’ me?” “Just thought I’d check in and see how you were. How’s the U.S. treatin’ ya?” “Great! I just got a new job. Meralei is happy. My mother is happy because we’re staying with her. So far so good ... except ...” “Except what?”
