Episode 1: The Stranger in the Rain
The rain began without warning.
One moment, the streets of Rosewood City were warm and crowded. The next, dark clouds covered the sky, and heavy drops began falling onto the pavement.
Amelia ran down the street, holding her schoolbag over her head.
"Why today?" she complained, laughing as she tried to avoid the puddles.
She had forgotten her umbrella.
As she turned the corner, she noticed a small bus shelter ahead. She hurried toward it, hoping to escape the rain.
But someone was already there.
A boy stood quietly beneath the shelter, watching the rain.
He looked about her age and carried a black backpack. His dark hair was slightly wet, and he held a blue umbrella at his side.
Amelia stopped.
"Is it okay if I stay here?" she asked.
The boy looked at her and smiled.
"Of course."
"Thank you."
She stepped under the shelter.
For several seconds, neither of them spoke.
The rain became louder.
Amelia looked at the boy.
"I'm Amelia."
He smiled again.
"Daniel."
"Nice to meet you, Daniel."
"You too."
Another silence followed.
Amelia looked at the road. Cars passed through the rain, their headlights shining through the mist.
"You've been standing here for long?" she asked.
"Not really."
"Waiting for someone?"
Daniel shook his head.
"No. I'm just waiting for the rain to stop."
Amelia laughed.
"Then we're waiting for the same thing."
Daniel laughed too.
Something about that moment felt strangely comfortable.
They had been complete strangers only a few minutes earlier, yet talking to him felt easy.
Suddenly, thunder rolled across the sky.
Amelia jumped.
Daniel noticed.
"Are you scared of thunder?"
"No!" she quickly replied.
He raised an eyebrow.
"That sounded like a yes."
"It was just surprising."
"Sure."
She smiled.
The rain continued for another twenty minutes.
Eventually, Daniel opened his umbrella.
"You can take this."
Amelia stared at him.
"What about you?"
"I live close."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
She hesitated.
"Thank you."
She took the umbrella.
As she walked away, she turned around.
"Daniel!"
He looked at her.
"How will I return your umbrella?"
Daniel smiled.
"I'll see you again."
"How do you know?"
He shrugged.
"Because the rain brought us here."
Amelia smiled.
"Maybe."
She walked away beneath the blue umbrella.
Neither of them knew that those words would become the beginning of something neither could forget.
Episode 2: The Second Meeting
The next morning, Amelia woke up thinking about the boy from the rain.
She looked at the blue umbrella beside her bed.
She smiled.
"Daniel."
She didn't understand why she kept thinking about him.
They had only talked for a few minutes.
Still, there was something different about him.
At school, Amelia carried the umbrella with her.
During lunch, her best friend Sophie noticed it.
"Where did you get that?"
Amelia looked down.
"Oh... someone gave it to me."
Sophie smiled suspiciously.
"Someone?"
"A boy."
"A boy?"
"Yes."
"Tell me everything!"
Amelia laughed.
"It's not a big deal. I met him yesterday when it rained."
Sophie leaned closer.
"And what's his name?"
"Daniel."
Sophie suddenly became quiet.
"Daniel?"
"Yes. Why?"
"I think I know who you're talking about."
Amelia's eyes widened.
"Really?"
Sophie nodded.
"There's a new student in our school. Daniel Carter. He transferred here recently."
Amelia stared at her.
"You mean... Daniel goes here?"
Before Sophie could answer, the school bell rang.
They returned to class.
Amelia sat down.
A few minutes later, the teacher entered.
"Class, we have a new student joining us today."
Amelia's heart suddenly beat faster.
The classroom door opened.
Daniel walked in.
Their eyes met.
For a moment, everything seemed to stop.
Daniel smiled.
Amelia couldn't stop herself from smiling back.
"Please introduce yourself," the teacher said.
Daniel turned toward the class.
"I'm Daniel Carter. I recently moved here. I hope we can become friends."
The teacher pointed toward an empty seat.
"You can sit there."
The empty seat was directly behind Amelia.
Daniel walked over and sat down.
Amelia turned around.
"You didn't tell me you went to my school."
Daniel smiled.
"You didn't ask."
She laughed quietly.
"Fair enough."
During class, Amelia tried to concentrate.
But every time she heard Daniel move behind her, she smiled.
After school, Amelia found Daniel waiting near the school gate.
He held out his hand.
"The umbrella."
She handed it back.
"Thank you."
Daniel looked at the umbrella.
"I thought you might keep it."
"Why would I?"
"So I'd have an excuse to see you again."
Amelia became quiet.
She wasn't expecting that answer.
Daniel smiled.
"I'm joking."
But Amelia could tell there was something behind his words.
They walked together down the street.
The sky slowly became darker.
Amelia looked upward.
"Please don't tell me it's going to rain again."
Daniel laughed.
"Maybe the rain likes us."
"Or maybe it wants to ruin my shoes again."
They laughed.
Then the first drop landed on Amelia's hand.
She looked at Daniel.
Another drop fell.
Then another.
Within seconds, rain began pouring down.
Daniel opened his umbrella.
They stood close beneath it.
Amelia smiled.
"Looks like you were right."
Daniel looked at her.
"The rain brought us together again."
This time, neither of them walked away.
They continued down the street beneath the blue umbrella, talking and laughing as the rain surrounded them.
Neither knew what the future held.
But both secretly wondered the same thing:
Could a rainy afternoon really be the beginning of love?
