At last, I'm awake. I point to some water, and a male gives it to me, I drink the water, slowly, I look around and it dawns on me who it is.
It is him.
My eyes open wider than they ever have. He's here with me but why?
I gave him the cup back and whispered a little thank you to him. He smiled at me.
Then I heard him. Ashley or whoever it is.
"Rayne, are you OK?"
The guy who took my water, sat next to me, growling. Why is he growling? Then I remembered he's a wolf.
Mystery guy over here was staring at the guy sitting next to me, but eyes flitting to me. Then I spoke
"Can you please leave, I don't want to see you".
His face had hurt all over it, but in that moment I didn't care. I was in here because of him. My body battered because of him.
"Rayne, please, we need to talk".
Upon him speaking, the wolf guy stood next to me in a protective stance. I made a mental note to ask for his name.
I turned my head to the side and closed my eyes.
I heard hushed arguments.
"She's asked you to leave, so leave, she isn't ready to talk".
"You leave her alone too, I already told you she is mine".
"I'm going to say this once, leave!"
I think someone had given in because I heard the door slam. I turned my head back to the center. ..
"Excuse me sir, but what is your name again?" I asked the gorgeous guy sitting across from me.
"Well, hi there beautiful, my name is Jase. Pleased to meet you".
I remember now. He told me when he shifted from the wolf.
"Well, Hi Jase, I just wanted to thank you for saving me, you really don't have to stay any longer, you must be exhausted. I hope to one day repay the kindness back to you that you've given me".
He looked at me for a few seconds, concern in his eyes.
He didn't say anything, he just smiled at me. Staying seated. I don't know if I said anything wrong.
I really want to know about their argument, but I keep shut on that one, I'm sure he will tell me in time.
Sitting with my own thoughts, Jase asks me if I want anything from the vending machine. He chuckled at my response of chocolate.
As soon as Jase leaves, I hear the door turn open again.
"Jase, if you need change, there's some in my bag, please help yourself".
"I'm not Jase".
Oh for gods sake, can't he leave me alone.
"Well then you can leave, I have nothing I need to say to you, Jase will be back soon".
I hear him sighing, but I don't care, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be in here and it is going to take a lot of time to forgive him, if I do.
"Listen, I didn't want this to happen to you, I thought if I kept you in the dark, this wouldn't happen to you. I'm really sorry. I got there as quickly as I could!"
I could hear the hurt in his voice, but that wasn't going to convince me to let him back in.
"But you weren't there, Jase was, if it wasn't for him, I'd be dead. He deserves my gratitude, not you, he deserves my time, not you, so please leave".
I turned my head, but I knew that I'd hit a nerve. I'm angry at this moment.
I hear him go towards the door.
"Rayne, be careful with Jase, he is very protective over you, that can be intense, it took a lot of doctors to convince him to let them help you. Over protective is not a good thing. It brings control. I think he's in love with you. I'll let him to explain"
I heard the door close and knew he'd left.
Two mins later Jase walked in. He stiffened as he entered, I knew that he knew Ashley had been in here. I didn't say anything, I'll bring that topic up another time.
He really needs to get out of this hospital room, it is bad enough I'm stuck in here, without dragging someone else along too.
A voice dragged me out of my thoughts..
The doctor.
"Hi Miss. Hope you're feeling ok? We have decided to keep you in for another 2-3 days".
They check my vitals, then leave.
Another two days. Ugh.
As soon as the doctors leaves, Jase sits next to me, He's wanting to say something to me, but he's resisting.
I sigh.
"Jase, out with it".
He moves around a little bit then speaks.
"He's been here hasn't he? While I was out" It sounded more of a growled statement than a question.
