Hey it's me again, Nikki Cormak here! I thought I'd do a little update on life with Jessica and a little on my love life with Greg Thomas. Jessica has slowly started to find her niche in the scheme of things around here, school is still a bit of a problem, she's made a few friends, and they have been to the house, Wendy and Abigail, they strike me as a little too much on the trashy side, these are the kind of friends that can easily get you into situations that turn into freaking disasters before you know it. I've already had to nix a couple questionable parties causing me to become the villain but I've come to accept that, it's just part of trying to mentor a teenager.
Right now, Jessica has been semi-dating a boy named Brian Parker, I like Brian but I think He likes me a little bit too much. When Jessica brought him by the house for the first time, he kept giving me the eye, then when he found out I rode motorcycles I got Jessica mad at me for trying to "steal the show." All he wanted to talk about was bikes. Finally, I had to sit down with him and have a little "chat." I told him I already had a boyfriend, which quickly moved to, "Brian, this is going to sound rather strange, but I think you need to focus your attention on Jessica, I've already got a boyfriend thank you, he tends to get pretty jealous at times, wouldn't want anything bad to happen." This became a sort of "wake up call" for the boy, but he took it with good humor, admitting to me that I was "hot" but actually being more interested in the fact that I rode Harley's.
He then revealed to me that he had an old Yamaha dirt bike that didn't run, and how he would like to impress Jessica with it. I saw an opening here and went for it, "Tell me Brian, what would it take to get that bike of yours running?" I think he saw the twinkle in my eye, Oh not too much, needs a battery, one of the tires isn't in good shape, new plug, couple other little things." "If we could get your bike running, do you think it's possible you could teach Jessica how to ride? I learned on dirt bikes when I was her age, best way to learn to ride I think," His eyes lit up, I was killing two birds with one stone here, getting someone to teach Jessica to ride, and getting him focused back on her, as well as bringing him into the "fold" so to speak, I could keep an eye on both of them without being too obvious about it. "I'd love to teach her to ride," "Are you a good rider?" "Uh I think so," "Well after we get your bike running this spring you can give me a demonstration, I just want to be sure." "Um Nikki, could I ask you something?" I looked at him with suspicion, "What is it?" "Well, um, ah, I've always wanted a Harley, maybe someday when I can afford one I'll buy one but I've never ridden on one, do you think you could give me a ride on yours sometime?" I looked at him, "Were we back to this? I thought. "I'll tell you what, Greg and I like to ride over to Bear lake from time to time, how about sometime this summer, we take you and Jessica over there on our bikes, you can ride on the back of Greg's, better seat, we'll go through Logan canyon, Greg will give you your money's worth I guarantee it."
This suited him just fine, it suited me just fine as well, I certainly didn't need some adolescent boy with his arms around me creaming his jeans thinking of fantasies involving the two of us.
Well here, it is almost the end of January and we haven't been skiing yet. Well that's all about to change, tomorrow Greg and I as well as Jessica and her boyfriend Brian are taking a little road trip over to Powder mountain for a day of skiing, or in the case of Brian and I, a refresher course. Jessica would be learning for the first time, so we kept our fingers crossed hoping no broken legs were the result. She told me about always meaning to go to a nearby ski area near Three Rivers but never got around to it. "It must have been that "Swiss Valley" place I saw the sign to as I neared Three Rivers last summer. Well Powder Mountain was the real thing, real mountains, real danger, and real cold, well wish us luck.
