We got the body parts loaded in the bags and we’d washed the floor, just in case. Frank and Carl had gone outside to make a fire to burn the carpet. We watched it burn in silence while Carl and Frank drank another three beers each. My phone beeped and I checked my messages. It was Robert. Robert: Thanks, I’m fine now. I put my phone away as Frank threw water on the fire. We all got into my car and drove towards the Bay when Carl grabbed me by the shoulders from behind. “How many bodies have you added to the Bay since Malachi’s wild days?” He asked me and I looked at him in the rear-view mirror. “Four, why?” I asked him.
