I left Malachi’s room seconds after he walked into the bathroom. I had to act quickly. I rapped my knuckles on James' door once and waited for him to open it.
“It’s late ..” The look on my face forced his silence.
“We need to go, now.” James nodded and closed his door.
Once inside my own room, I changed into jeans and sneakers and kissed a sleeping Adara on her cheek. I sent her a text so she wouldn’t worry when she woke up and found me gone. James was already waiting for me in the garage when I went downstairs.
“Want to tell me what’s going on?”
I was already in the Jeep and started reversing as he quickly closed his door. “He just said that he killed her at the den.”
“Who killed who at the den?” James asked me sternly.
“Malachi did.”
“What? Why? Where’s Malachi?”
