CHAPTER 2

Anna “I…I don't have anything to say,” I whispered in fear, my heart racing inside me. Damon's anger only grew, his claws digging into my stomach fiercely, drawing blood. “Liar. You're happy, aren't you? I know it; I know you, Anna. You've always hated me for killing your parents, so this must bring you joy. But don't worry, sunshine. Your joy will only last for a short time. I will have my heirs soon, even if I have to f**k a random slut.” Suddenly, he moved closer to my ear, his voice tinged with amusement. “Or should I mate with that blonde bestie of yours? She isn't an Alpha's daughter like you, but I can manage.” I forced myself out of his grip, immediately giving him a deadly glare. His lips curled into a sneer, his smirk widening. “Don't you ever go near Stella. You’ve caused us so much pain, and now you want her to carry your child? Never! Stella hasn't even found her mate!” “Guess she never will. She better give up; her mate isn't in this pack, and she'll never find him. It's better to be my woman than wait for a mate who's never going to come.” He folded his arms, taking slow steps towards me. I immediately backed away, never leaving his poisonous gaze. Those lemon brown eyes were capable of alluring you, of deceiving you into doing as he said. But his charm could never work on me, not after everything. I moved until I reached the bed, and I fell on it, getting immediately covered in Damon's musky scent. Though he rejected me, the lingering bond showed itself on rare occasions. I quickly stood up, but he was on top of me in a second, smiling in malevolence. “Hey, instead of Stella, maybe you could be my woman? You were always mine from the beginning anyway, and to top it off, you're an Alpha's daughter.” Damon traced a finger on my jaw, his eyes boring holes into my body. I swallowed a lump, biting my tongue in fear, my heart racing in my chest. I hated him so much, and I hated myself for not being able to defend myself. “I would never sleep with you, Damon. You reek of evil; you have blood on your hands!” Damon's hand swiftly striked my cheek, the hit so fast I almost didn't see it, just felt the sharp sting, followed by his hard grasp on my jaw, our lips barely inches away. “Shut up, Anna. You don't want my anger right now. Don't forget you're still mine even after everything. The goddess gave you to me, and I can do however I please with you.” I looked away from him, letting the tears fall from my eyes down to my ears. I was boiling with rage; all I wanted to do was punch Damon in the face, but I knew it came at a cost. “But don't flatter yourself, Anna. I would never touch you. Your body isn't attractive at all. Wouldn’t even bother to lay a hand on you.” “I'm glad we share the same thoughts,” I muttered through gritted teeth, my anger barely contained. “Babe—” the door burst open and Sophie walked in with a tear streaked face. She gasped from the sight before her, then tears welled up in her eyes. Damon rolled his eyes before getting off me, and I immediately ran out of the room, not even sparing my mistress any eye contact. Once I was out, I heaved in relief. Then, I heard them arguing. “Are you already trying to replace me with your orphaned mate? You're so despicable, Damon.” “Don't you dare raise your voice at me, Sophie. Forget you saw anything, okay? Nothing happened.” “Liar! You were on top of her! You're going to make her your mistress, aren't you? You want an heir so bad that you're willing to go back to your own vomit!” “Sophie!” I didn't wait any further. I raced down the stairs to the maid quarters, just seconds before the crashing of furniture and glass could be heard. “Damn, he's really angry.” Stella said, and I rolled my eyes, massaging the area where he hit me. “Here's an ice pack, Anna.” “Thanks. I just hope Sophie doesn't barge in here later and tries to hurt me or anything.” “Don't worry, best friend. I'll protect you from that witch.” Stella said with a smile, and I laughed softly. We stayed out of their sight for the rest of the day, and during dinner, I addressed the rest of my pack. We had increased in number during these past five years, and I hoped that soon, we would be strong enough to leave this dreadful place. We secretly trained during our free time, and I led my people, just like my father taught me. One day, we would be free. After a long day, I headed to my room to rest, my eyes already getting heavy. But when I saw Sophie standing by the door, all sleep left my eyes. “Look who it is. My husband's mistress,” she said in disdain, her eyes green with envy. “Mistress, I have no idea what you're talking about.” I said cautiously, watching her every movement. “Sure you don't. You wanna play dumb, right? You got what you wanted, didn't you? You stole Damon!” “I would never steal your husband, Sophie. He rejected me to marry you, remember?” I said to her, and she folded her arms. “Yeah, he did. But what did I gain from that? Nothing. I'm barren, and now the elders want you to carry Damon's heirs!” She yelled at the top of her voice, and I froze at her revelation. I looked at her as though she was crazy, but the serious look in her eyes made my blood run cold. “What? The elders want me to do what?”
