To encourage me, Isla wrapped her legs around my waist, the sudden movement causing both of us to moan. With Isla’s blessing, so to speak, I f****d her. At some point, I would withdraw before plunging into her again.
Isla buried her face in my shoulder to stifle her cries. I understood why. Anyone nearby would be able to hear. Hell, the entire pack would be able to. None of them would dare interrupt or bat an eyelash, of course.
The one person who I wanted to hear was Oscar. He was my friend—still is my friend. But I wanted him to hear me f**k Isla. To know that I was able to have her when he couldn’t. It was petty, foolish behavior, but I was far too gone by this point to give a s**t about either of those things.
The one to reach c****x first was Isla. With every ounce of strength she had left, she arched her back and let out a primal scream. It echoed through the room. To preserve some of her dignity, I captured her lips in a passionate kiss. It wasn’t long after I joined her.
Unless being in heat was involved, the odds of pregnancy were almost non-existent for an omega. Doing it during a heat almost guaranteed a pregnancy. Unless you used natural remedies to prevent this from happening. Margaret had whipped some up in the past for certain pairs.
When I pulled out of her, I noticed Isla had dozed. For her to spend the night in my nest was going to be quite the talk of the pack. I’d wake her up in a few hours so she could clean up and then head back to Alison’s nest.
Washing would only get rid of some of my scent, but I didn’t care. Let them smell me on her… better yet, let Oscar smell me on her.

hen I learned of the attack, I was ready to rush out there but then I was told that the wolves had been taken care of. They were no longer on this earth and had been eliminated by the scouts, including Lukas.
My first thought after I heard Lukas was injured, was panic. He was one of my best friends so obviously the idea of him being hurt made me feel uneasy. It was good to know that he wasn’t seriously hurt.
Other than Lukas being injured, I was trying to figure out just why these wolves would’ve gone onto our territory in the first place. It didn’t make any sense. The last time we had an issue with a pack in the past went back decades.
Most of the packs in the area had good relationships with us. If not good, it was civil enough so we wouldn’t break out into an all-out war.
The first place I went to was the infirmary to check on Lukas. I stared when I saw Isla fussing over him and scowled. It came out before I could even stop myself. Lukas didn’t notice the first time. We even had some basic conversations where there was no thick tension.
I left when I saw Isla fuss even more over Lukas. It was infuriating to me that she was showing him all this attention. What I wanted was to be the one who was getting that attention.
This man was my best friend. To think now I was viewing him as the enemy, was crazy. Yet, I was. I wanted to stake my claim on Isla even though I had no right to do so.
It was almost a relief that I had the intruders to focus on. When they brought in the corpses, I was there in the official capacity of my father. Eventually, I would report what I learned to him but for now, it was up to me to gather all the information that I could.
The bodies were still in their wolf form, but this was no surprise. They were killed in their wolf form and would therefore remain in their wolf form for eternity I suppose. Some packs thought it was an honor to die completely in your wolf form rather than as a human. It just depended on the pack we were talking about.
I looked over bodies and focused on their fur. The coat was a dark brown with specks of white. It was difficult for me to pinpoint what pack had this usual coat. You couldn’t always go by coat though because for larger packs, like the Sabretail Pride, you had different coats because it was made up of multiple families.
The scent almost smelled a little familiar. This is what threw me. I frowned, curious as to why these unknown wolves smelled so similar—wait. It smelled a bit like Lukas.
I don’t know why I hadn’t realized it before. They smelled a little like Lukas. They smelled more similar to Lukas’s father. Did that mean they came from the same pack that Lukas’s father had come from?
This didn’t make sense. Lukas had told Oscar that his father had lost his clan and had no clan of which to speak. So, why was this clan suddenly making themselves known? Better yet, why had Lukas’s father lied?
I knew if Lukas knew the truth, he would have told me. He never would’ve kept something from me because we told each other everything. At least, there was a time when we told each other everything. This wasn’t the case anymore.
The only person I could think to talk to was my father. Well, I had to speak to him anyway. So, I cut off a piece of the fur from one of the corpses, intending to take it to him so he could inspect it.
“I’ll speak with my father. Meanwhile, you can all just discover what you can about these wolves,” I told them. “Learn their age, weight, secondhand s*x, everything. I do want to know everything just in case. Never know if it will help us or not.”
I took the fur and went to my father's part of the den. He would be awake after hearing about the attack. So, I knocked loudly and pushed open the makeshift door.
Before my father could say anything, I took the piece of fur out of my pocket and dropped it onto his desk.
“And what may I ask is this?” Father asked, lifting a brow at the suddenness of my actions.
I blinked. “Fur from one of the intruders. The interesting thing about it is the fur smells a little bit like Lukas and a hell of a lot like his father. What is the reason for that?”
My father brought it close to his nose and took a deep sniff. Once it clicked that it smelled familiar, he growled and threw it across the room.
“I knew that woman was going to get us in trouble by bringing this man in here. Your mother convinced me it was best to let them stay. They were in love, she said. I should let them stay, she begged. As you know, I was weak for your mother and her whims, so I agreed. I never should have done it because I knew it would be a problem eventually,” my father growled.
None of what my father was saying to me made any sense. I tried to make sense of it without asking any further questions because I could see how annoyed he was. However, it just wasn’t possible. If I wanted to make sense of what he just said, then I was going to have to inquire further.
“Father, this should come as no surprise, but I have no idea what you are talking about.”
My father sighed. “Of course, you don’t because this was before your time, Oscar. Though, you and your friend are going to have to deal with this so I might as well explain to you what is going on.”
I bit my tongue, wanting to know why I had to assist in helping Lukas with whatever this problem was. Lukas had to take care of it because it was his father. The responsibility fell onto him.
Luka’s father was just not up to the task. The night he left his pack, he was seriously injured, and this injury continues to affect him today. Even worse, he’d especially been in poor health lately. Most of these issues resulted from the attack on him.
All that was left to do was find out why.
Eventually, my father began to explain. He believed that the attack had come from the pack Lukas’s father used to be a part of. When he met Lukas’s mother, they had both been in the city doing something for their respective packs. Sometimes, you had to interact with humans even if you didn’t want to do it.
When my father was describing that they fell in love, he almost sneered as he said it. They started secretly seeing each other. To mix with another pack without permission from the head alpha wasn’t necessarily wrong. It depended on the pack.
