CHAPTER THIRTEEN I leave the front door open and head straight into the kitchen to splash wine into a glass. All the while, I glare at the cat. After the day I’ve had, I collapse onto the sofa cushions, cross my legs and gulp my liquid courage. Eventually, footsteps approach my front door. The cat hasn’t moved an inch from the benchtop, and I’m quietly stewing in anger and snot. A sneeze explodes out of me again. I barely stop my drink from sloshing over the rim—okay, to be fair, I’ve drunk a fair portion of it so the risk isn’t all that great.
