CHAPTER FIFTEEN Sipping my coffee, I click through Mackenzie’s online calendar over the past three months. A lot of internal meetings and travel to Sydney. A few trips to Brisbane. All in all, it’s pretty ordinary. As I click back through the previous bookings, I find signature blocks for Cassandra, Annie and, at last, Maria Gutieriz. With a quick look around, I jump on my phone. Maria’s last social media post was back in February. She’d posted several times a day prior to that. I examine her profile picture. She’s a pretty woman with dark hair and soulful eyes. Over her last few posts, the status had changed from happy to “not sleeping” to “tired” and “worried.” I check both Cassandra and Annie’s feeds and find similar updates.
