Chapter Twelve

Helena saw the smirk on his face and rolled her eyes. He wasn't taking this seriously and it was frustrating her more and more by the second. "50/50 isn't okay with me! I need to be 100% sure about this and KNOW everything will go as planned. I can't lose her again. This can't be like last time," she muttered. She studied him for a moment and then looked into his eyes. He eyes widened as he realized this isn't the first time she's tried saving Allison. "Xander, I'm trusting you with everything I hold dear. Please do not make me regret it," she whispered, almost pleading with him. She began to walk out of the room, thinking about going to bed. He heard her words as they started to repeat in his mind. "Don't worry Helena, we won't fail. That's a promise," he said as he got up from his desk, leaving the room as he walked towards the kitchen. He saw the human looking through the fridge as he grabbed a cup from the cupboard. She turned around, closed the door, and was startled half to death. Xander smirked as he filled his cup with water. "There's plenty of food. Eat up, human. You'll need your energy," he told her. He left the kitchen and he made his way back to his room. Setting the glass on his night stand, he grabbed an old book- a grimoire of sorts. "I haven't look at this book in ages," he whispered. He sat down on his bed, leaning back against the wall. He kicked his feet up as he read through the old tongue, performing the simplest of magic for starters. Helena went to her room and turned the radio back up from earlier. Xander's words ran through her mind, realizing he promised her something more important than he realizes. She hoped he knew how major this was for her, and how much she longed to get Allison back. She started singing along with the radio, belting out the words loudly and closing her eyes. She opened her window and sat by it, thinking about her mother and father. She remembered how her mother used to sing to her, trying to get her to sleep. She remembered her father laughing as she sang when she was a child. Tears came down quickly, but she continued singing. She missed them. Not who they were now, but who they used to be- before they made her mother and father believe she was a mistake. In his room, Xander kept reading through the ancient language as he cast spell after spell. He stopped reading as he got to his favorite spell of all: summoning the undead to his side. He smirked as he got up from his bed and walked outside to the backyard. Grimoire in hand, he casted the spell, bringing the entire coven back from the dead. He cast the spell a certain way so that they would retain their personalities. All of the dead members looked at each other, wondering how they were alive again. The members turned as they heard three voices screaming the name Xander. He dropped the grimoire as his parents and little sister rushed up to him. Smiling like a little kid again, he didn't care of they were undead; they were still his family. Up in her room, Helena had watched him and his family. She looked away from the window to give them some privacy. She stopped singing and looked down at her necklace. She remembered when she was 13, she spread her wings for the first time. It had hurt, and it felt like she was being cut open. Her parents told her that feeling the pain was okay. She shook her head at the memory, then checked her wounds. They were doing okay, it seemed. She decided to go downstairs to get something to drink. As she was walking downstairs, she saw the human sit up. She turned around and looked at Helena. "You... You could've killed me. Why didn't you?" She asked. "Because killing isn't in my nature," Helena replied. The human nodded. Helena decided to go tell Xander that Lily was awake. She walked out to the backyard. "Hey, Xander? Lily j-" She stopped talking when she realized that they were all still there. "Oh, uhm, never mind. Sorry, I'll see you inside," she murmured, her face turning red. She turned around to go back inside. Xander had turned around, as did his family. His mother and father shared a look, smiling as they placed their hands on his shoulders. "Xander, dear, is this your wife?" His mother asked softly. His face turned bright red as he turned to face them, then turned back towards Helena. He saw her body tense up when his mother spoke, her back towards them. To no avail, he tried to clear his throat. He was stuck in that spot. Laura ran up to Helena, tugging on her hand. Helena looked down at her. "Hey miss, are you my big brother's wife?" She asked innocently as she kept tugging on her hand. Helena's face turned a brighter shade of red as she stuttered a bit. "Laura, that's enough. Don't pester Helena," Xander said, practically hissing as he walked towards the two girls. He motioned for her to let go and go back to their mom and dad. He leaned towards Helena. "You're not leaving me here alone to deal with this. I'll never hear the end of it. YOU came out here. Help me out with this," he whispered, seemingly begging. She looked from him to his parents, her eyes darting between them. "What am I even supposed to say?!" She whispered, not having a clue what to do. She was shaking nervously, and looked down at the ground. Her face turned red more, and she tried to avoid eye contact with Xander. She wanted to go back inside, since she wasn't sure how to even answer them. She decided she couldn't leave him to face this alone, and upon realizing how excited they were, she looked at him for help. She sighed and turned around, getting ready to speak with them.
