Chapter Nine

He watched her fling the fireball at a tree and was impressed as it seeped through, burning the tree from the inside out. Hearing her say her words with such venom irked his nerves. He glowered at her. "Listen here, you damn fallen angel. I gave you a second f*****g chance at life! If you didn't want this life then why did you agree to it in the first place?!" He mumbled. He stood up, looking down at her. His anger started to rise as he saw the look on her face. She had a look of disgust, and it made him want to snap. "If you didn't want to be this, then why did you let me change you? You could have said no and I would have ended your life right then and there! You had a CHOICE!" He shouted as he punched a nearby tree, leaving a gaping hole in the middle of it. He glared daggers at her as he tried his best to calm himself down. He breathed in and let out a sigh, closing his eyes. "I can understand that you miss everyone from where you're from but at least they're alive. My family, everyone I've ever loved- they are all dead! So if you want a fight, then you've got one. I've just about had it with you and your disgust for being a vampire,” he shouted again, with deep sorrow in his eyes. He truly didn't want to fight her but he would if it meant protecting his coven and life. "I DID NOT ASK FOR THIS! 'Oh, change or I'll kill you'! That's not much of an option! And miss them- what family? I hope they all rot and burn in hell! Second chance at life? YOU PRACTICALLY FORCED ME INTO THIS! I was doing just fine on my own before you just had to come along and make me even more of a mistake than I already am!" She shouted. She threw more fire at the tree. "AT LEAST YOUR FAMILY WANTED YOU! My family forced me to fall from grace, they MADE me leave! You have no f*****g idea what you're talking about, Xander! You have no idea what I've been through, and I don't expect you to understand! But damn it, I didn't ASK for this!" Word after word, more venom fell from her lips. She stepped up to him, ready to pounce- but she was not going to attack first. "I'm not gonna spoil your damn secret. If I wanted to destroy you, I would've let that girl go. I DON'T want to ruin your life. I don't want to see you in that pain! But damn it, you make it hard not to slit my own throat right here and now. You make it hard not to want to escape from this. You keep wanting me to feed, and kill people... That's not who I am," she muttered. She got closer to him, making sure he could look into her eyes. He finally looked at her. "I did NOT ask for this. It was either be your damn fledgling or die. Do you really think I had much of a choice? You didn't give me one. You would've done the same damn thing! You would've done whatever you could to stay alive! Fighting you? It isn't worth it. Because then you'll get what you want. And I don't want to give you that satisfaction. You don't like me, you've made it clear that you hate me. I can see it- I've seen the hatred within my own family. You don't like that I despise being a vampire. Why? I DON'T LIKE HURTING PEOPLE! Especially you! Every time I say something about not liking this, hurt flashes across your face and it KILLS me inside. I don't know why, honestly. But if you really do not give a damn, then why do my words affect you so damn much?!" She growled. She realized what she had said and inhaled sharply His instincts took over him as he grabbed her throat and pinned her against a tree that wasn't burnt. "Enough!" He yelled in her face as he snapped, as he was getting tired of her ranting and insulting his species. "I didn't give you a choice? You stupid angel, I gave you a choice. It was to either die or become my fledgling. You made your choice! If you wanted to die, I would have killed you in the forest," he snarled. His face got closer to hers as he stared into her eyes. "Don't like you? You remind me of my dead sister, Helena! There is something about you that just drove me to you. I sensed you out there dying, but there was something driving you to live. So, I did what any other f*****g creature with a heart would do. I saved your sorry a*s and gave you a chance to live," he spat. He let go of her throat, taking a few steps back as his eyes dropped a bit. "You don't like being a vampire, I get that. But this is the only life I know. So, excuse me if I get offended when you talk s**t about my way of life!" He said as he looked into her eyes, his anger slowly starting to go down. She rubbed her throat and stared at him. "Your point?! If I would've died, I would've just been sent back down here! I didn't want to become... This! And totally, that's SO much of a choice! Again, I say, 'die or become my fledgling'. I WASN'T READY TO DIE! The ONLY good thing about this is I got to meet you!" She growled. She calmed down and immediately realized what she had just said. She turned away from him, her face turning red. "I wasn't dying... I was running. I was running from Daniel and his followers. Daniel was part of the Elder Counsel up there. He wanted me... Wants me... Dead. It kills him because he can't catch me, and he's afraid of me. He sent others down to kill me, because of what I did. You should've killed me, I deserve it," she whispered.
