Chapter Eight

He returned from his hunt with a human knocked out on his shoulders. He took the human to the basement and chained her up. He smirked as he took in the smell of the fresh blood pouring out of the girl's wound. Xander had knocked her upside her head so hard that he left a slight gash. He left the room and went back upstairs. He stopped by Helena's door, tempted to knock on the door but chose to go back to his room. He changed into a pair of sweatpants, a black t-shirt, and sandals, realizing he wore comfy clothes for once, and walked into the living room. He sat on the couch and turned on the TV, flipping through the channels before choosing a movie to watch. He kicked his feet up, trying to relax, but his mind still went back to his argument with Helena. "Damn girl... Why doesn't she understand? I gave her a gift, yet she treats me as if I gave her the Black Plague!" He muttered. Helena slowly swung her feet over the side of the bed and stood up. "I'm gonna prove him wrong," she muttered. She took one step at a time to the door. As she reached it, she turned the knob. "He's gonna yell at me, but f**k him," she said to herself. She opened her door and started to walk out into the living room. She made her way to the kitchen, ignoring Xander. She got a glass of water and stood at the sink for a while before finally deciding to go outside for a little bit. Xander rolled his eyes when he saw her when she walked past the living room to go to the kitchen, but his eyes were watching her like a hawk. He noticed that she went outside and he slowly got up from the couch. He followed her quietly, resting his arms against the porch. "The moon always calms me down," he said as he looked up at the moonlit sky. She turned away from him, ignoring his words. She stared up at the sky, wondering if she should just fly off and never look back. She sat down on the porch, wincing at the pain her wounds caused her. "f**k," she hissed. She lifted her shirt slightly and looked at them. Tears began to fall from her eyes once again that night. She traced the marks with her fingers, wishing they would go away. She looked up at Xander, taking in his features and making sure he didn't catch her staring. His black hair fell over his silver eyes. His tall, lean figure rested against the porch as he searched the night sky. His gaze jumped between resting upon the stars and Helena, watching both quietly. His eyes caught hers but he didn't make it obvious as he turned around to go inside. "If you wish to leave Helena, do so now. I won't stop you," he said quietly as he went inside the house. He went downstairs to the basement to check on the human but found that she wasn't there. "f**k," he cursed under his breath as he searched for the girl. He felt a heavy pipe slam against his head as she snuck up behind him. The girl saw the opportunity to run since Xander was taken out, and she ran out the house, passing Helena. She stopped cold in her tracks as soon as she saw Helena. "No! Another monster, get away!!" She screamed as she leapt off the porch into the yard, heading towards the woods.  Xander came running outside quickly. "Helena, stop her! If she leaves this place we are doomed!" He shouted hastily as he was still feeling the effect of the sneak attack. Helena spread her wings almost immediately and flew after the girl, keeping her in sight. She got a bit lower to the ground, gliding through the woods. She tucked her wings in a bit to help her move faster, and reached her arms out in front of her, getting ready to tackle the human. She landed on top of her with a loud thud, and pinned her. "You are not ruining his life! No! Not again. He doesn't deserve that!" Helena shouted. The human girl flailed her arms around and started screaming. Helena tried quieting her, but it didn't work. "Forgive me," she whispered. Helena bared her fangs and bit into the girl's neck. She slowly started draining her of her blood, feeling the warmth of it and the metallic but amazing taste. She stopped herself before she lost control, making sure to drink just enough to knock her unconscious. She lifted the girl up onto her shoulder and walked back to Xander's house with her. She approached him and threw the human girl down onto the ground. "That was the most disgusting and unspeakable thing I've ever done in my entire life!" She shouted. She kept staring at the girl's neck, guilt washing over her. Her blood ran cold. Her heartbeat sped up. "She's only unconscious... You kill her," she muttered. Feeling nauseous, she ran back into the woods, trying to find a place to sit and calm down. She found a tree that hid her in the shadows, and tried to calm her shaky body. Xander caught himself as he propped himself against the door frame. "Damn, the b***h got me good," he said as he felt the wound begin to heal. Xander had taken in everything Helena had said. He noticed that she had blood stains on her mouth before she took off. Smirking, he knew that she had finally drank blood. But when he thought of the look she had on her face, his expression fell. "The first time is always scary," he said as he remembered the first time he drank blood. It shook him to the core. He didn't chase after Helena, instead he just grabbed the girl and chained her back in the basement. This time he doubled the chains before leaving the house in search of Helena. He didn't need to search far as he located her in the woods. He threw on his jacket and left to go to her. He knew what it was like and knew that she needed him to explain things to her. He found her hiding beneath a tree. He sat down beside her, watching her shaking body. "The first time is always scary Helena. But you do adjust and get used to it afterwards," he mumbled. She shook her head and looked away from him. "If you haven't noticed, I'm not the heart-to-heart type of person. I can deal with this on my own. You just might want to leave before I beat the living f**k out of you for making me... This!" She yelled. Venom spewed from her words and she looked up at the sky. "I already have disappointed everyone I knew and loved up there. I don't need to do it down here, too," she whispered. She closed her eyes, remembering how exactly she fell from grace. Her wings ached at remembering the pain that followed. Her head filled with anger at the thought of her parents. She threw her hands out in front of her, sending fire flying at a tree.
