Chapter 2

1377 Words
Lisanne's POV My hands trembled as I sat in the corner of the bathroom, staring down at the two lines on the pregnancy test. How could this seriously be happening? Why was it happening at a time like this? Why on earth would it even happen? Why? I pulled my knees up to my chest in tears as the last words Ray said to me after rejecting me two weeks ago at the mating ceremony rang in my head. “I can't have a woman who can lay herself down for a stranger to be my mate. What shameless things would you do if I made you my Luna?” I was hurt and heartbroken also asking myself why I was foolish enough to get myself into this kind of irritating mess I was in right now. “What should I do now?” I asked myself in a whisper, knowing I couldn't tell Aunt Andrea about the pregnancy or she would completely kick me out of the house once and for all. I wasn't paying attention to anything in my surroundings and I didn't realize when the door to the bathroom was pushed open. Before I could react, I could see the look on Aunt Andrea's face when she saw the pregnancy test lying on the floor. “What is this?” Aunt Andrea asked and I hurriedly stood up, staring at her. “It's not what you think…” “It's not what I think? So what the alpha's son said the other day is true. You have brought shame to me since that day and now you're trying to bring more Shane to me by getting pregnant by a stranger?” She lashed out at me and I took a step backwards. “I am so disappointed in you, seriously.” She yelled, barging out of my room. My hands trembled as I looked at the test on the floor. I rushed over to the room and started to pack my things to leave this place. I knew I couldn't stay any longer or the humiliation I would go through would be much worse than anyone I had ever gotten in my entire life. I wrote my aunt a note and slowly slipped out of the house, tears rolling down my cheeks as I clutched my sweater hard as if it would block out the night cold. I sat on the bench next to the road after walking far away from home, rubbing my hands together. “Have you thought of where we will go now?” I heard my wolf's voice and I knew she was right. We have nowhere to go. I hadn't thought about that and at the same time, I didn't want to stay any time longer in that house with Aunt Andrea. “We haven't found out what happened to your parents too. If Ray can't work, I'm sure we can find another person.” She said and what she said did make sense but first, I had to get away from Ray. I knew the child was his but I'll never go to him and tell him that after that kind of humiliation in front of the whole pack, not telling them he was the same person I had a one-night stand with. Tears rolled even more down my cheeks as I remembered the reason I was here in the first place. I would just be in my pack enjoying the luxuries even if I wasn't recognized by anyone. Although I was the alpha's daughter, I was weak and I could tell my father was disappointed by everything I did. The only reason I escaped death years back was because he sent me away to train me and my wolf to become stronger. Or maybe he knew the m******e was coming and he didn't want all the members of the pack wiped out. After that, I went to Aunt Andrea who was my mother's only sister, a member of Ray's pack. And here I am, with nowhere to go, a child in my belly, and no money on me. “Get yourself together and let's look for a solution, Lisanne.” My wolf yelled at me and I shook myself, getting myself up as I took a cab with the last money I had on me. I knew what was going to happen. I would leave this pack and everything about it behind. I don't know where to go but first I have to leave. I ran into the forest after I was dropped by the cab, heading towards the side of the border rogue wolves escaped the pack through. The place was heavily guarded but I still managed to get through with tears in my eyes. I didn't know what to do or how the neighboring pack would treat me after I left, but it wasn't like I had a choice. I'd rather suffer than go to Ray to tell him I was carrying his child. I rolled in the dirt, tumbling down to the river below the border. I tried hard not to scream as I hurriedly shifted, grabbing a large stone I saw. A sigh escaped my lips as I was barely able to save myself. I forced myself up the hill, moving towards the large bridge separating the two packs. As soon as I got on the bridge, I rushed to the other side as fast as I could. “I have to get in here without being noticed,” I mumbled as I saw a truck that had broken down. “Are you sure about this?” My wolf asked with doubt in her voice. “We don't have a choice do we?” I got into the truck as fast as I could and curled up, hugging my luggage. After a few minutes, the truck moved and I held my breath as the truck crossed the border, greeting those at the gate who seemed to know him. “We're almost there, Lisanne,” I whispered to myself and after I was sure we were past the border, I peeked out and saw the other pack ahead. “I made it out alive.” I slipped out of the truck and hid quickly, trying to get a view of everything around me. I knew I had to lay low so I won't be caught. A rogue wolf is killed or imprisoned and I escape not to be killed but to start a new life. “We can do this right?” “Do not get me killed Lisanne. I do not want to die before seeing our pup.” My wolf said dramatically and I just rolled my eyes as I slipped into the busiest part of the city. Everyone seemed to be busy minding theorbo business and immediately I found a public restroom, I slipped into it and got changed before stepping out of the restroom. I didn't know where to go but I needed to at least find a place to eat and sleep for the night. “You. Stop there.” A voice called me and I shivered and I turned around to see a woman standing outside a bakery. “You look lost, where are you heading?” “I just travel here. And I think I'm lost.” I said gently and she walked over to me. “You can stay here till you reach the person you're going ahead to meet.” She said with a bright smile but although I found it suspicious, I went into the bakery filled with people seated chit-chatting as they waited for whatever they ordered. “Sit here.” She said, and placed a plate of buns before me with a smile and headed towards the phone and I suspected she wanted to call the authorities. And I hurriedly placed the food she gave me in my bag and headed out straight away before she could make any more moves. “I have to leave.” “Hey you, wait up. I haven't given you the water.” She called. I knew it was either she had drugged it so I would be vulnerable. Do they do this to all strangers?
