Marked By The Enemy: The Alpha Is Mine

Chapter One: THE WEAPON

NYRA

“Would you look at that? The little Omega is training” one of the soldiers who was an Alpha said, laughing while he pointed at me.

“Go eat s**t, Hector” I said, tone bored. I knew I was only riling him up but the guy talks too much. I continue to jab at the sack filled with sand in front of me.

“You are a feisty little thing, ain't ya?” He sniffed at my hair, making me see red. I flip him onto his back, a leg pressed against his chest.

“Woah, this is my type of foreplay, give it to me rough” He said, eyes glinting. Laughter spilled out from the other soldiers that watched.

The urge to shut him up forever was strong but I had to control myself. Unnecessary killings born a murderer a voice that sounds suspiciously like Alpha Varek’s whispers into my ear.

I changed position, pressing my knee into his throat. He choked, face turning red as he hit me continuously. I didn't let go, a savage smile on my face.

“Next time you want to spew s**t at me, remember this moment” I growled out, flashing him my canines. I shove him away, dusting my clothes.

“Nyra, a word” Alpha Varek beckoned me. That was the only man I respected. The remaining were sniveling idiots claiming to be men. This was the only person who looked at my scrawny, slightly burnt body and gave me a chance. I would do anything and everything for him.

“Alpha” I said, going down on one knee, a hand fisted across my chest. “stand up, Nyra. You are woman not a man, you don't need to go down on a knee” Alpha Varek said, his green eyes cool and assessing.

“You have a mission, it is a delicate one” I straightened, heart pounding. This was the mission I had been trained for, a mission to show him how grateful I was to him for taking me in all those years ago.

“What is your command Alpha?” I asked respectfully, head slightly bowed. “You would seduce Alpha Caelan on his last trial” I froze at that. Alpha Caelan? He was practically a baby, what was I supposed to do to seduce him? Play peekaboo?

“Your wish is my command” I said, looking him in the eye. For all of my gratitude to him, he never once treated me kindly. Not that he treated me unkindly, he just didn't care. “Rhett would get you all the necessary supplies, stay standby in your cottage” he said, dismissing me.

I walk out of his office, not totally understanding his motive for this mission. The last time I had seen Alpha Caelan, he was a snot eating brat. Maybe I grew up too fast, I was only a child myself when I saw him last. But my eyes had seen many a things a child wasn't suppose to see.

As I walked past the training ground, a bitter sweet memory came to mind. “Hit the man harder, Nyra” Alpha Varek growled at me. “I am!” Little me screamed in his face, eyes teary, hands shaking. “Well, not hard enough!” He yells, making me flinch. “I am a monster. I won't be scared of anyone. Say it!” He comes to stand in front of me.

“I-I am a monster. I won't be scared of anyone” At that time, little did I know how true he was going to make that saying become. I walked briskly past the Omega camp. The days I spent there in heat came into focus like I was experiencing it again. “Make it stop!” I screamed at one of the male omegas who whimpered, hiding behind the older female Omega staring down at me.

“It is your nature, you would learn to endure it” she had said sternly. I shivered at the memory. The pain I felt that time was no joke. I finally got to the little cottage by the pond I called mine. It was bent and not the most sturdy building in the pack but it was mine. Me leaving the only home I have ever known was terrifying but what needs to be done needs to be done.

“I heard about your little fight with Hector, are you good?” Rhett walks towards the cottage, his black hair slicked back as usually. “You should be asking Hector that, I think I might have broken his hyoid bone” I joked, my lips pulled back in a slight smile.

Now this was another man I trust with my life although it wasn't the case when we had first met. “ohh, I am sure that would have hurt your knee” I rolled my eyes at him. The man couldn't be serious for a minute. “Did the Alpha brief you already?” He questioned, his blue eyes filled with worry.

“Yes, he did” I answered shortly. For all that he was my friend; my only friend, I couldn't divulge what the Alpha had told me unless given the command to. “I tried to talk him out of it but he wouldn't listen” a hard glint took root in his eyes, taking me aback. I knew as the Alpha’s right hand man they were close. But I didn't think he would have the audacity to talk about him like that.

“It is the Alpha you are talking about, show some respect!” I hissed at him. He scoffed, looking at me with anger. “Your dear Alpha is sending you to seduce a baby! I would expect you to feel some anger towards him but no, your precious Alpha can't do no wrong!” He bite out. I let out a sigh “so this is what this is about?” I question him, eyes roaming around his face.

“If you don't succeed in your mission he would kill you, Nyra. He said he doesn't like to have loose ends!” He tells me eyes rimmed red. “I would expect nothing less” I say to him softly, patting his shoulder. “This is your package, you are to set out immediately” Rhett said, not looking at me.

I nodded, draping my cloak on. “See you when I see you, Rhett” I said, waving a hand at him as I set out on my journey.
