The top of my head felt warm and made me feel at peace. I opened my eyes to see Lilith still asleep but her hand was resting on my head, her fingers in my hair. Her head was turned slightly away from me, exposing the side of her neck, and there… was a beating pulse. I stared at the pulse beat under her skin. I moved my head, slowly, so her hand would slip off of my head, and just as her hand was slipping more and more, I took her hand in mine as I was looming over her.
I stared down at her as she peacefully slept, breathing in and out, in and out. I leaned over her, my head beside hers’ breathing in her scent, it was faint and I can mostly smell the hospital’s chlorine and other chemicals but my focus was mostly on Lilith’s Haiku perfume, coconut shampoo, and the smell of rain.
