SIXTEEN STEVE RETURNED to the big city that night and headed in toward that familiar silver skyscraper, slowly closing in on the array of enticing windows stretched across the luminous penthouse suite. Silently, he lingered, hovering close enough to spy down into the loft below. There he held, unsure about the situation's etiquette. His fingers gently tapped on the glass. As he did, Pandora, Miss Melt, strolled into view below, glowing in peach tones. But she seemed oblivious to his presence and glided around her trees and flowers to the open space at the couches.
