I stared at him until I realized I had an audience. "I-I don't know..." I said, "I guess I like both..." Xander sipped his coffee. "Let's say a vampire wanted to date you,-" I laughed. I could not do this with this man. "Are you a vampire?" "No, I'm not a blood sucker." "Xander..." Quinn had a warning to his voice. "I'm a werewolf," Xander smiled at me. I looked at the guys then back at this crazy man standing next to me. "I think you might have gotten your head hit too hard yesterday by James," I said as Maggie walked into the kitchen, "I'm into centaurs." I joked. "Centaurs? They don't even make good mates,-" "If you gentlemen don't mind, I'd like to show Miss Sabrina around so she can get used to the house before starting tomorrow," She said with a lovely smile. I couldn't take my eyes off Xander's. He didn't even blink, but I could hear the breathing of the other guys. The room was so tense—as if Xander had crossed a line. "Yeah, that's a good idea," Quinn said, "If that's OK with you, Sabrina?" I placed my cup in the sink and nodded. "It is. I'd like to get away from the werewolf," I said, sarcastically. Maggie frowned, but smiled as she looked around at the guys who just waved us on. AUTHOR'S—THIRD PERSON POV "What the f**k? Are you high?!" Hudson asked Xander when Maggie and Sabrina were out of earshot. Xander shrugged. "You really think she believes I'm a shifter? Come on, brother," Xander rolled his eyes, making himself another cup of coffee. "You're getting pretty damn high and mighty over there, Xan,"Quinn said, "She's already irritated with you." "How long have we waited? How long and it's Sabrina Brewster?" Xander scowled. Hudson frowned, "Who did you want it to be? She's perfect for us and you know it." Sebastian smiled, "He's scared—and he's jealous." Xander shot his brother a look. "Excuse me?" "You're quick to protect her—hell, faster than we are," Sebastian pointed out, "And you're angry.Angry that she's the one and she's not just yours. She's ours." "What if she doesn't want the rest of us?" Hudson asked, suddenly looking alarmed. "Well, that's OK, Hud!" Q said, "Xander's weeding himself out of the pack it seems." Xander seethed. Yeah, he wanted her to himself and he tried to understand, but why couldn't it just be him? Why did he have to share his mate with his brothers? "Remember old man Benson and his brothers had one mate," Sebastian reminded them, "They were happy." "Xander wants to be miserable," Q laughed, "You're gonna f**k this up." "What the hell with the werewolf question?!" Quinn sniped, "Are you daft? It's bad enough we're going to keep our mate as a damn servant until she's 19!" Xander laughed, "Oh come on! She doesn't even know any better. And why does this stupid ass rule apply to us? 19?" "It's when she'll be ready," Sebastian said, "You know that's when the,-" "This is silly," Xander waved his hand in frustration, "She's an adult and she's already ours. She accepts us, we mark her and boom! Making babies!" "Remember Centaur Joe?" Hudson asked. "Enough about centaurs!" Sebastian slammed his hands on the table, "This is about getting Sabrina to accept us and who she really is—not about our f*****g libidos or other beings she doesn't even believe in." "I can't wait for that conversation..." Xander mumbled. SABRINA POV "This is the biggest house I have ever been in," I said to Maggie as we wandered up and down all the corridors, every bedroom, every broom and linen closet, the basement, the attic, and even the Quad's bedrooms. "We don't really go into their rooms unless specifically asked to do so." "I understand that," I told her, "They're grown up so they can probably manage on their own and privacy." "Yes, I've walked in on things I don't want to see again," Maggie laughed. I blushed, "Of course..." We walked around the corner and somehow ended up on the second floor. "How.." I shook my head, "This place is a maze." Maggie nodded, "Oh, looks like the boys are headed to the game room." I looked up and watched the Quads come into view. The closer they got, the more god-like they became—looks, mannerisms, everything about them was a dream. Q, Hudson and Seb entered the room with Xander trailing behind. "Come on, Sabrina! Team Edward or Team Jacob?!" Xander laughed as the other three began pulling him into the room. Maggie shrugged, "Boys.." "Well, looks like this is the last linen closet," Maggie sighed"The house is very large. Some days, I can swear that I haven't been through the whole thing and I've been with the Calhoun's for quite some time." We entered the room and she began showing me where most of the items were. "A lot of these things from this room just need to be recycled every now and then, changed out as this floor doesn't have many guest rooms on it," Maggie was saying as I took in the atmosphere. This whole closet was the size of my room in Aurora. Maggie's phone buzzed. "Oh! I'll be right back. Take more notes if you'd like and you can meet me downstairs. I have to put on some food for the elder Calhoun's. They should be home soon." "It's fine. I'll be right down." "Excellent!" With that, Maggie left me to fend for myself which was fine. I needed a breather. It couldn't have been a few minutes before the lights went out in the closet and I froze. "Hello? Maggie?" I heard what sounded like a door opening and closing, but no light streamed through. "M-maggie...?" Trembling, I made my way blindly through the dark. I hadn't even brought my phone to have light and I couldn't recall where the light switch was for the closet. Fumbling around, I pushed my way up to the front and ran into a hard, warm... "Hey, Cupcake.." "Xander?!" The lights flickered on, but only to a dim low-light setting. His arms were around me and we were flush with each other. I could feel his bulge begging to break free as it jabbed me in the thigh. "W-what are you doing?" I whispered, trying to study his eyes, his truth. "What does it look like?" "Xander, I,-" "I want to kiss you. Tell me you don't want me to and I'll leave..tell me you're not wet for me and I'll go.. tell me right now that if I stick my finger inside of you that you won't be dripping with arousal?" I trembled because I couldn't tell him any of that. "I can't..." "Can't." "I just,-" "Have you never been kissed before?" Xander turned me around and pushed me up against the door. He held on to me in such a way that I thought I'd break in two. Lifting my leg, he wrapped it around his hip, holding me up with his body and breathing in deeply through his nose. "Gods, you smell incredible..." I wasn't sure what to do. I wanted him to kiss me, but something inside of me told me he...wasn't the only one I wanted...or needed. "I have never kissed anyone—like this.." I whispered. "Do you want me to kiss you?" I shook my head but I said yes.... He smiled and leaned in, smashing into my lips with his and taking every ounce of my soul from my body. He tasted sweet, like peppermint—and I wanted more of him. I felt his tongue probe my lips softly before entering my mouth. I was so inexperienced that it took me a moment to figure out that all I needed to do was stop moving my own tongue and let him do the work. Moaning into him, I tossed my arms over his shoulders, running my nails down his neck and back through his black hair, pulling him deeper into me. I wanted him. My core ached for him to be inside of me, but I felt like I also didn't want to lose myself in a linen closet. I heard him groan, and then a low growl rumbled through his chest. I opened my eyes for a split second and I couldn't unsee them.. "Y-your eyes! They,--" I blinked and the gold colored orbs had returned to green. "What?" He asked me, searching my face as I shook my head, my heart racing in my chest. A knock pounded on the door behind me and I yelped. "Hey! What the f**k is going on in there?!" Q yelled, "Mom and Dad are going to be here any minute." I pushed Xander off of me and flung open the door to see three very angry men standing before me. They were looking passed me, though—their eyes boring holes into Xander's soul. "Sabrina.." Hudson reached out for me, but I ran off as fast I could. I was so disheveled. I forced myself up the stairs and into my bedroom, locking the door behind me. I either just made a fool out of myself with Xander's stupid werewolf questions or that man's eyes had changed from green to gold in that damn closet. AUTHOR'S—THIRD PERSON POV "You stupid f**k!" Q pushed Xander up against the wall, "She-you,-... f**k! I smell her all over you." Hudson breathed in deeply, "What have you done, Xander?" Sebastian folded his arms across his chest. "Well, if she didn't run from us last week, she will now." Xander smiled. "She tastes better than anything I have had in my life..." It didn't take long for the fighting to begin. The shouting matches, a few fists thrown here and there. "This is on you, Xander, if you have royally f****d it up for us," Q said. Xander scoffed, "Please, stop with the dramatics. So, my eyes betrayed me. I was turned on—a lot! She won't believe herself." Q huffed, "Great. Now you're going to have our mate thinking she's crazy?" "Boys!" Valerie called from downstairs, "We're home." "Saved by the f*****g bell, you dip s**t!" Seb smacked Xander in the back of the head before they headed down the stairs to greet their parents. SABRINA POV I couldn't move, but I knew I had to. I didn't know what else to do. Maybe I was going crazy—maybe Xander had put something in my head and I was just seeing things. Maggie had messaged me that Valerie and David were home. I quickly refreshed myself and forced myself to believe I had seen absolutely nothing. The kiss—the lust—the wanting—that's all it was. That's all it was.... I made my way down the stairs, catching sight of Clive and Cheryl, Maggie coming into view with a smile on her face as bright as the sun. The Quads turned to look at me. They looked at me like they hadn't looked at me before. The way Xander looked at me in that closet before he kissed me—like they wanted to shred my clothes and take me right there on that staircase. Even with the golden eyes, I probably wouldn't have stopped them. I was so embarrassed by my actions that even when Xander smiled at me, I turned away and greeted his parents. "There she is!" David said, holding a hand out for me to shake. I did so with as much enthusiasm as I could muster, "We've heard so many great things about you." Valerie took a step forward and smiled, her eyes studied me like she was looking for something—something inside of me that even I couldn't find. "Sabrina..." She said, her voice catching. I could sense a hint of joy—like a mother's joy. She looked over at the Quads for a moment and back at me. "Oh, Sabrina...Welcome to the family."
