The Guys

For four men who only paid attention to me when it was convenient for them the last two and a half years, the Quads really liked being close to me now. "The greenhouses were put in not too long ago," Sebastian said as we entered the building, "Our mother does a lot of gardening." I smiled, "So did mine." I stopped to smell some roses and gardenias. "My favorite flower is probably the tulip," I said, not understanding why I'd become so candid with them. Something bristled behind me and I frowned upon seeing Xander standing flush with my body. "Haven't you done enough?" "Cupcake, I haven't done anything just yet... " We journeyed on, talking to the workers and still being introduced as Miss Sabrina. "I'm not sure that I'm comfortable with that," I admitted, "I'm only 18. Half of these people are much older than I am..." "It's because you outrank them,"Q told me, "We've never had a personal assistant. Maggie, Clive and Cheryl are only staying with us until you've got your routine down. " "Oh... " I frowned, "Wouldn't it be easier to have four people assisting you rather than just me?" "We won't be too hard on you... " Hudson smiled, but his smile, albeit usually sweet and shy, wasn't this time. It was flirty and cunning. Xander's eyes narrowed at his younger brother who smirked. "I don't know what's going on with you guys, but chill out. We're in a greenhouse where plants need positive vibes, not brooding ones." I said, catching Q and Seb smiling at the other two. "You will probably never work out here or for lawn or house maintenance, but it doesn't hurt to know what's what and who's who," Q said as we left the first greenhouse. "How much land is this?" I asked. There had always been different answers throughout my few years in Solitude and no one really knew how much acreage the Calhoun's owned. "What's rightfully ours," Xander answered, still walking awfully close to me. Seb huffed, "What my brother meant to say is that we own a lot of land." "So, will the four of you live here with your wives and kids—or if that's in the cards for you?" I inquired. "We hope our planned future wants what we do," Q said. "That's a unique way to put it," I smiled at them as we ended up in another greenhouse and chanced upon some tulips, "How lovely. I always wanted to own a nursery or something, but even though my mom tried to teach me, I just don't have a green thumb." We made our way out and passed some guest houses and employee homes. "Let's go back to the river," Hudson suggested. "The river runs through your property?" I felt like a little kid, "That's awesome." "We can go skinny dipping in it sometime," Xander brushed against my shoulder, dropping his shredded shorts in a nearby trash can. "Perhaps a fish will bite off your dick." I mused, not glancing at him. Hudson chuckled, "Who says his d**k is that big that a fish could get to it?" I laughed much to the embarrassment of Xander who stopped and lunged at his brother who dodged him. Hudson, not looking where he was going, ran right into me—knocking me straight to the ground as the wind was blown out of me. "Holy s**t! I'm so sorry!" Hudson reached for me as Xander shoved his brother out of the way, taking my arm and lifting me up. "Are you OK?" He asked as I coughed, nodding my answer. Quinn and Sebastian were not happy. The look they gave Xander and Hudson made even me shudder. "We're sorry, truly," Xander said, brushing off the dirt from my back. His hand brushed my ass and I gasped. So much for me pretending like I'd ever had a man touch me. My core ached for someone to touch me, but I needed to calm down—my hormones needed to relax. "Fuck..."I heard Hudson say as he sniffled and turned away briefly. "Are you alright?" I asked him. Quinn nodded, motioning for us to continue on. "He's perfectly fine," Q said, "Get your s**t together, Hud, and join us at the river." A low grumble came from Hudson as he glimpsed me one more time. "He doesn't have to be that upset," I said, "It was an accident." "He'll live," Xander said, "Let's get to the river." "Promise to leave your clothes on?" "This time..." The river. I could have stayed there all day. "We fish out here and camp out sometimes," Sebastian told me, "Throw wild parties, according to the townsfolk." "I wouldn't know. You never invited me." The three stopped behind me, but I continued on, hearing Hudson call to them in the distance. "Well, when we have parties, we'll invite you," Quinn teased. "Nah, I'll just stay to my room." "Not if I ask you to be there as my assitant," Xander mentioned. Hudson regrouped with us and he looked spent. "Take care of business, brother?" Hudson scowled, "Not as much as I like to..." "What's that over there?" I pointed to a nearby pathway. "Just the way to the neighbor's house," Seb said, "Try to keep off their property. They aren't the most welcoming." "The Mueller's," Quinn said. "I won't trespass," I assured them, "Bad blood?" Xander smiled, "You could say that." "And don't wander the grounds at night," Sebastian warned. "I'd argue that because I don't want to feel like a prisoner, but what I heard last night? I don't know what to make of that." "What did you hear?" "I don't know. Xander said it was probably stray dogs." "Do you like dogs?" Hudson asked me, inching closer. "Yes, I do, but I don't want to have some rabid, feral canine attacking me..." I breathed in deeply, "I was bitten by a dog when I was little and my mom wouldn't let us have one as a pet until I got older, but they,--" I didn't want to talk about this. I didn't want to talk about having to let my dog go. "They had to put him down because he got sick.." I said, my voice cracking, "I don't want to talk about Kevin." "You named your dog Kevin?" Xander asked me. "Well, I mean, cutesy dog names like Spot are fine, but I like it when they have human names," I shrugged, "I don't know why." "I like that," Seb said, "Kevin." "So! Who wants to go to town?" Xander asked, clapping his hands together. "Sure," I nodded, "I need to get a few things anyway." "We'll be able to show you where to shop when it's asked of you," Quinn told me as we walked back, "You'll be going with Maggie most of the time and one of our drivers will take you." "Let me grab my bag," I headed into the grand house, leaving the door open halfway. Grabbing it, I rushed back down the stairs and stopped shy of the front windows. Xander had his shirt pulled up, his toned abs beckoning for me to slide my tongue up and down the indentations. Seb was examining something on the other side of his brother's stomach, turned away from me. I sighed deeply, taking it all in. What the hell was I doing here? Once I stepped out, the boys piled into the car, Hudson smiling as he waved me into the back seat. "Is something wrong with your stomach, Xander?" "Yeah, my abs are hotter than Sebastian's and he's a jealous fucker." I rolled my eyes and leaned back in the seat. Not much was said as we entered town. The Quads definitely had a hold on the people here. I knew their family was incredibly prominent, but the royal treatment was a bit much. "So, this is usually where we get our groceries," Seb said as we parked in the lot of Brookshire's SuperStore. Of course, they did. It was high end. "So, this is where I'll be going for grocery runs?" I asked as we got out. "Yep, the one and only story for grocery goodness," Hudson said, not following behind me now. "OK," I said, grabbing a basket, "Well, I am going to get some items. I'll meet you guys back here?" "Yeah, you have our numbers in case we've slipped off for an orgy," Xander smiled. "You're such a charmer,"I frowned. "We can come with you," Hudson offered. "No, I think I can manage..." I blushed, "It's really, REALLY OK. I have some items to get that don't require your attention..." I didn't know what expressions I was expecting, but not the lustful gazes they granted me. "OK, so...meet ya back here soon." Scurrying off, I let out a sigh of relief. The Quads did a lot of things together, but holy smokes I needed some time for myself. Grabbing some of the items, I rounded the corner running right into someone. "OOF!" Fumbling back, I was grabbed around the waist by James Mueller, another student from school and the neighbor of the Calhoun's, "So sorry...James?" "Hey..it's alright..." His green eyes twinkled as he held on to me, "Sabrina Brewster." "Y-yep..that's me,"I wiggled free, "How's it going?" "It's better now.." He narrowed his eyes at me, "I hear you're working for the Quads?" "Wow, word travels fast,"I laughed, "Yeah, I am. I start Monday so they're showing me around and teaching me the ropes." "What else are they teaching you, little red?" He softly pushed a strand of my red hair out of my face and I noticed his hand was bruised. "What happened to your hand?" I asked, "Looks like a rough night." "Something like that." "Get the f**k away from her, Mueller." Xander. "I was just saying hello to my new neighbor," His brown hair dipping over one eye, "Isn't that right, red?" "We ran into each other,-" I started, but Xander was standing between us now. "I said what I said, Mueller..." Xander snarled. James threw his hands up in defeat, "Hey, if she wants to talk to me, she doesn't need permission, right, Red?" I sighed, "No.." "I was going to invite you over for dinner if you're interested,-" He began, but Xander was nose to nose with him now. "I said, back..the fuck...off....." "Fine," James turned to me, "Nice seeing you, Sabrina." "You, too." I waved. "What the hell was that all about?!" I asked Xander who grabbed my basket and was headed for the checkout, "How bad is the blood between you and the Mueller's? How long have you had beef?" The others were at my heels as Xander paid for my stuff and we exited the store. Quinn slid into the car and sighed. "I don't know. Some days it feels like centuries."
