Chapter 4

1559 Words
"Are you sure you heard Johann and Mitch's voice?" Sam rested his head on David's left shoulder. Of all the positions the members woke up in, Sam is probably the most comfortable one. David didn't bother waking up whoever was sleeping beside him until he heard Johann and Mitch screaming not too far from where they were. "I'm certain. I know... I know their voices—and they're screaming for help. It doesn't feel so good, and I'm scared..." David sniffled, grumbling. He had no idea where he and Sam could possibly be. He sounded like he was in so much pain. His hard breathing was audible to the older guy. His sobs and sniffles can clearly be heard too. David's scars were hurting, as well as the deep cuts on his forehead and around his face, down to his chest and his arms—he's one of those passengers that were sitting at the left most side of the car. "Where does it hurt? Tell me. Don't cry." "Everywhere," David stuttered, tears started rolling down his cheeks. Though Sam wanted to tell the younger boy not to cry and be strong, or just to simply wipe his tears, the rope tangled around his hands wouldn't let him. Sam admits that he wanted to cry as well. He felt too weary, his throat and chapped lips were too dry and so was his hungry stomach. His scars were burning, and his mind was engulfed in confusion. He knows nothing about where the others are. He could only see pitch black, and he could only hear David quietly sobbing in pain. It was all too confusing. There were only two of them inside that dark room, not knowing the other nine were distributed to other places in the same situation as them. "David... We will know what's happening. Just stay calm and endure the pain for now, okay?" Sam cooed, trying to comfort the younger as he secretly faked a smile in the dark. Everything was just going completely clueless until there was one big thing that happened. David and Sam were surprised because of the sudden turning on of lights—the bulb in the room unexpectedly lit up, giving them back their sight. The tick of the light turning on wasn't a thing they were all expecting. As the vivid brightness struck upon Sam's eyes, the dark and unknown place they were in was finally revealed; a grayish-walled room for a prisoner, with railings just sitting coldly in front of their eyes. A plain room, with only the two of them inside. Sam's sight was too blurry at first. He blinked multiple times before his painful eyes got to adjust to the faint light. He saw how messy it was in the room, and he almost got frightened just by looking at the place. He turned his head to face the person beside him, David, and the latter quickly did the same. Eyes widened, minds confused, Sam saw the little shards of glass pinned throughout David's body. The red substance covering almost half of David's face scared and worried the older person. David saw the fresh wounds and the dried blood scattered around Sam's body. It was like a huge mess—they were in the clothes that they wore exactly that day the car accident happened, but they haven't been cleaned or even cured yet. On the other hand, the sight of June and Sebastian gave the same cold chills to Johann's spine. It was too scary and unexpected, especially the amount of blood around their bodies. The thick brown rope was visible now that Johann could see it clearly. The gray room, the cold dark bars, just like inside a prison, Johann thought. What place could this be? Harry's sad face transformed into a worried expression after seeing how Dominic and Eugene were doing inside their room. His eyes were wide open, and he was sitting right by the wall, which probably made him too audible for William on the other side. Eugene was lying in the middle of the room in an uncomfortable position. In front of him was Dominic—it was probably hurting Eugene's eyes to see how Dominic's body rested under a wooden, old table, full of scars and stains of red. It was chaos, from William's perspective. Just as Harry was doing, his back was pinned against the wall, giving him a full view of the two other boys inside the gray room. They were widely separated; Mitch was resting his body on the small wooden dinner table, and the white skin of his face made the wounds extra visible. However, Henry looked just as terrible, sitting at the very corner of the room. His outfit was almost covered in blood, his flawless skin was damaged and all he could do was cry. "Please! Please help me..." Henry begged, and his tears were unstoppable. It all randomly fell from his two eyes, which gave a throbbing pain to William's heart. With full effort, Eugene tried to at least sit properly, for lying in the middle of the room with his legs crossed and his hands tied tightly possibly made it more painful. "Dominic, what are you doing there?" he asked the boy, whose body was lying under an old wooden table. The place looked like a cell that had been used as a storage—oddly for old house furniture. "Seb, Johann, please help me... I'm too scared, I'm so scared, I want to go back home!" Sebastian nervously looked at the younger. "June, don't cry, okay? We... We will get out of here. We will find a way to know what happened, I promise." "What happened? David, what happened… to you?" Sam's eyes gaped. He could not tell if it was tears rolling down the younger boy's face, or if it was just blood dripping down his forehead slowly. "Why did this happen? Why are you like this?" He questioned continuously, scanning his friend's body through his eyes. Sam couldn't control his emotions. His eyes became teary, seeing how hurt David was. "Sam... I think I'm going to die," David cried once again. Sam's teardrops rushed down immediately upon hearing his cracking, frightful voice. But all their noises and whines stopped when a sudden sound of a loud door scattered around the whole area. The eleven boys tried their best to keep their eyes looking at the cold metal bars that were refraining them to escape each of their cells. William gazed outside, confusion engulfing his mind. "What's that?" He mused with his low voice. They wondered what the noise could be—where it came from, and what created it. Then, unexpectedly, there was something that William's ears seemed to hear; there were sounds of footsteps, getting louder and louder each time. His eyes immediately widened. William, Henry and Mitch were clearly keeping their eyes out, but freaked out when a person suddenly walked past. A lady wearing a blue dress slowly took steps and walked after their cell—or should they say, a hallway that leads to the other rooms. That apparently was correct. The room where Harry, Dominic and Eugene are was right next to the room where William was. That explains why they could easily hear each other before. Harry saw things clearly; the unknown lady walked past their room, in a dark blue dress and disturbing, noisy, heeled blue slippers. The lady walked confidently. She didn't even bother looking at how everyone was doing—she just walked through the hallway and took steps as if there were no visible iron bars disturbing her way. At that very moment, Sebastian knew there was someone else. He heard the loud footsteps of an unknown person—and though he couldn't move, he asked for help loudly. "Help… help us!" he croaked loudly when the blurry, blue figure finally walked past them. Just like what the lady did before, she ignored everything. Everything, even Sebastian's rasping call and Johann's wide frightened eyes. She walked like the boss. She walked comfortably, a broad grin on her pretty, feminine face. Her dress waved every time she took steps. And her slippers—her slippers woke up everything her way, even David's tired eyes that just wanted to close and rest for a while. "Who... Who are you?" The woman stopped walking forward and stood beside the very last room that the hallway could lead to; Sam's eyes gaped, and his voice was harsh from dryness and hunger. The lady stopped in front of the cell where the two were. She was blurry, too blurry for them to see how she prepared for their first encounter. "Sam, it’s me. I am… your girlfriend." Her lips formed a smirk that was not visible in the eyes of the two boys. She slowly raised her hands, turned to her left and pulled down a lever which led to an unknown substance scattering around the whole area. Suddenly, David found himself hardly breathing because of that substance—green smoke, he says, that had an unpleasant smell that suddenly made his head feel dizzy. He was tired. He felt weary. However, he felt relieved when everything suddenly turned pitch black, putting him and probably everyone in that area back to sleep, unconscious.
