CHAPTER FOUR

EIRA “I don’t like this” That was Asha’s stance in things and she had been trying to talk me out of this suicide mission which I was about to embark on in her opinion. “You worry too much Asha it’ll just be a few months I’ve been goes longer and you know it” I said. That was what I have been trying to tell her for the past days. I’ll not die couldn’t die not at least until the Dark Fang Pack was brought down to its knees. “That’s the f*****g problem Ndax ndawul Yalla. You are not just going on an ordinary mission like the other one’s you have a revenge motive” she said. “You know that I must do this right hell you should want revenge also from those fuckers at your former pack for all they put you through” I said. “The path of revenge will only lead to more ruin” she said cryptically and I scoffed “Oh f**k that” this was utter bullshit. I for one couldn’t care her reasoning. If she wanted to be f*****g Mother Theresa then she could. I was not gracious in any manner and I would get even with the ones who ruined my life. “But-“she tried to say but I cut her off. I was over this. Why was she so keen on discouraging me? It wasn’t the first time I had done this before. I would infiltrate and be out in the maximum of three months. They crumble and then his strongest pack would take over putting an end to this war. It was a win-win situation in my opinion. “Look Asha you know how much this means to me. You of all people know what I’ve been through because of that pack what they did to my f*****g family. You promised you’d support me when I was ready so what is the big deal now?” Asha heaved a sigh “Yalla ju jigeen ma taxawal. You’re right and I’m sorry. I should support you no matter how bad of a decision this clearly is” she said “Thank you” The day soon came. I had gone over the plan with Commander Norman for over a million times and he was still making me do a rundown. “I got it commander, I’ll get captured as a wandering clueless rogue and gather as much information as I can while they think I’m sitting pretty in the cell” “Make sure you do not get caught out of the cell under any circumstances “he said. Commander Norman was the only one from the Neutral Intelligence Network whom I had ever seen eye to eye and that meant apart from Asha, he was the only one who knew that I was the marked rogue. Not even the other rogues who I was acquaintances with while over at Asha’s rogue pack knew who I was. Commander Norman was also one hell of a pain in the ass. “Relax Commander, this isn’t my first f*****g rodeo besides I have no wolf remember, so that means I don’t leave a scent behind” I said. “You could die?” “I’ve been told” I replied and when it looked like he had more to say I cut him off “Look I won’t die. As usual I’ll report to you every fortnight and take utmost care of myself” “And one more thing” he said and I groaned “What?” “I know you Eira do not engage with the Alpha. All you need to do is gather Intel and that’ll be your strongest weapon against him and they you can just sit back and watch another pack rip him to shreds, stripping the Dark Fang Pack of their honor” “No f*****g promises.” “Can I have a word with Eira please Commander?” Asha asked head slightly bowed and he nodded his head and excused to give us some privacy. Asha engulfed me in a bear hug and I pat her back awkwardly, this was the first time she had been so emotional about me going on a mission before. “What’s this about?” I asked once she had let go. “I don’t know why I feel this way I just want you to be safe, {I am begging you} promise me that you will be safe” she pleaded “I will be I promise” I said but she still didn’t look the slightest bit satisfied. I heaved a sigh “look, I already told Norman that I’ll find a way to send word every fortnight and I promise ill wrap this up within three months and then I’ll be done” I said and she nodded. ‘May the moon goddess keep you safe” she said and I scoffed “That b***h does nothing for me I’m self-sufficient”. All packed and ready to go, I took off into the deep of the wild lands. It would have been about a two-day journey to reach the borders of the Dark Fang Pack if I had my wolf but I didn’t and so a week by foot it is then. I stuck to the trees. I had heard that Rogues weren’t the only creatures of the night in these lands. For one there were feral rogues. These were the rogues that had lost their consciousness completely, either because they couldn’t get over the hurt on being separated from their pack, or they had lost their mind over time of being a lone wolf. Wolves were pack creatures, and not being in a pack was detrimental to a wolf. When one became feral there was no going back, they became a danger and would have to be put down. Wild animals, lie boars were also a threat, and then there were also the shadows, for years hey had remained a faint whisper, a fairytale but a terrifying one nonetheless, some say they were the main reason why this war started in the first place, the war that put the five unified packs against themselves, but no one had ever seen them but I was not about to take chances. Nothing would be killing me until I had my revenge. Not a feral rogue, no a wild animal and certainly not a mysterious force that no one had ever seen, the Dark Fang Pack must be brought to book. When it got dark I took refuge on the branches o fine of the trees, she would begin the journey again early in the morning. But first, she had to sleep.
