Tristan's POV Evie looked at me, a real smile finally breaking across her face for the first time since I’d seen her at the training center. “You know, if I were to follow your character, Tristan, I’d absolutely run you over.” She paused, then shrugged. “But oh well, I don’t have a car.” I burst out laughing, the sound feeling good and free. “I could give you mine,” I offered, still chuckling. She laughed too, a genuine, warm sound that made something loosen in my chest. “Oh, really?” “Absolutely,” I said, extending my hand. “So, can we be friends again? Please?” Evie took my hand, her grip firm and surprisingly strong. “We are friends, Tristan,” she said, her eyes glinting with amusement. “But if you get out of line even once, I’m reporting you straight to Marc. Don’t think I won’t.”
