"Isn't that the same outfit you had on last night?" Sarah asked with a knowing smirk, as she popped her head into my office door. "I don't know what you're talking about." I said in an obvious innocent tone.
"Holy s**t, you little slut!" Sarah said jokingly, closing the door behind her, "Tell me everything. Don't leave out an inch!" I gave her a smug look as she sat down across from me. "Fine, yes you're right. I spent the night with him. But there's not much to tell." I gave in. "That bad huh?" She asked, holding up her pinky. "Oh no," I laughed, "not that at all! I just don't remember much." Do I tell her about blacking out? I thought, I don't want her to think he had anything to do with it. "Well then? What happened?" Sarah asked persistently, "Did you f**k him or not?" "Sarah! Seriously." I said with fake offense, "Yes. You could say that." I finished, giving her a side eyed smile. "So was he a sprinter and not a marathon runner?" Sarah pried, "Did he not know how to pass the baton?" "Ok, ok," I said with a laugh, "we didn't actually get that far." Sarah's eyebrows raised. "Awe. Finished him before he could even get it in huh?" She jested. With my face flush and laughing, I answered, "Sarah, no. But. Have you ever passed out? You know, when you have an orgasm?" She could tell the hesitance in my voice. "Damn." She said with a whistle, sitting back in her chair, "That would be a no from me. I've heard it can happen, but I've never been so lucky." We stared at each other for a moment, before Sarah pried again. "So I'm guessing that's why you don't remember much? Poor guy. Must have thought he killed you." She said laughing again, "What did he say when you came to?" I looked down at my desk, "He didn't say anything. Because he, uh, wasn't there." I said, and glanced up at Sarah's puzzled face. "I didn't wake up until this morning." Silence. What was she thinking? Of course she was probably thinking the same thing I did. "Holy s**t Hannah! Did he drug you?" Sarah exclaimed, worriedly. "No!" I said firmly, "at least, I'm pretty sure he didn't. We didn't drink anything after we left the bar and I don't even have a hang over." Sarah just stared in disbelief. I know, I thought, I barely believe it myself. "So he literally f****d you to sleep then." She said, completely serious. "Damn. I wish I could get that." I finally looked her in the eyes, "Again, we didn't even get that far." I said, then laying my tongue between my middle and index finger. "Holy fuck." Sarah breathed in astonishment. "Yeah." I said, sitting back in exhaustion, "Holy f**k is right." We both sat in silence for a moment, me reliving the night before in my mind and getting all the more turned on. And Sarah most likely creating her own version in her mind, but with herself as substitute.
"Well then, uh, I've gotta get some work done." I said, snapped us both back to reality. "Oh right. Yeah me too." Sarah said, jumping up and heading to the door. I'm pretty sure I seen what looked to be a small wet spot on the crotch of her grey slacks. "Wonna grab dinner tonight with Keara? She'll want details also." She said as she flung the door open. "Oh, I can't. I'm actually going out to dinner with Nero." I said hesitantly, "He left me a note this morning."
"Awe. Well, Maybe lunch then." Sarah said as she headed out the door.
I don't think time has ever moved so slow, I thought to myself, as my eyes checked the clock for the third time in five minutes. And then it hit me, he doesn't know where I live. We never talked about that. Yet his note said he would pick me up at seven? s**t. I wish I would have realized that earlier. I don't even have his number. "You're such an idiot." I said out loud, dropping my forehead to my desk. *RING RING* my desk phone startled me, making me jump. "This is Hannah Jones." I answered quickly.
"Hello Miss Jones," came a familiar old man's voice, "This is Hector, from Mr. Neros building. His apologies for not calling you himself, but he is still indisposed at the moment with his previous business." How did he get my number? I thought. "Oh, hello Hector. That's not a problem, I understand. But Hector, how did you get my office number? I never gave it to Nero." I asked very confused. "No ma'am, you did not. But you did tell him that you worked for a large design firm and he was able to make a few phone calls and find this number. I hope that's not too invasive?" Of course, I guess there's only a couple dozen firms in the city. And maybe only half of those with an employee named Hannah. I tried convincing myself. "No not at all Hector. I'm actually glad you called. He left me a note saying he was going to pick me up at seven tonight, but I'm not sure how he plans to do that. Since he has no idea where I live." There was a slight pause on the other end. "Hector?" I asked. "Yes ma'am, my apologies. Please forgive my brain for lagging." He chuckled, "My old age you know. I completely understand your confusion and that is precisely the reason for my calling." Ok, I guess that's believelable, I told myself, I'll bite. "Mr. Nero would like to know where you would like to be retrieved this evening?" Hector finished. "Yes, of course. 3739 Liberty, apartment 12. Did he happen to mention what I should wear?" I asked. "I believe comfort should take priority this evening ma'am. You shall expect the car at precisely seven o'clock." He continued, "good day ma'am." "Yes, thank you Hector." I replied, hanging up the phone. Well that's not what I expected, I thought, as the excitement peaking in me even more.
As the clock finally reached five, I gathered my stuff and headed out the door. As I caught Sarah's eye she called after me, "Have fun. Don't do anything I wouldn't do. And try to stay conscious this time. Ok?" I gave her a jokingly annoyed look and waving my hand in the air said, "Yes mother." And let the elevator doors close in front of me.
During the cab ride home, the only thing going through my mind was what Nero could have planned tonight. "I believe comfort should take priority this evening ma'am." Hectors words ran through my mind. So I guess a fancy restaurant is out. But how comfortable? Jeans and tennis shoes? Or low heels and slacks? Does it really even matter? I asked myself jokingly, if I had it my way, neither will stay on long.
"That'll be 17.50." The cabbies voice snapped me back to reality. "Huh? Oh yes. Here you go," I said handing him a twenty. "Keep the change." It is a nice evening, maybe a walk on the water front? I guess I'll find out soon enough, I told myself as I entered my building and made my way to the first floor.
"Jeans and tennis shoes it is then." I told myself, as I threw the pile of rejected outfits back into my closet. "This'll have to do." Last minute check in the mirror and we'll call it good. I've never been one to overly scrutinize my appearance, but tonight feels different. "Maybe I'll just try the slacks on again." *BUZZ BUZZ* echoed the door. Is it seven already!? "Damn!" I cursed under my breath, "I guess this'll have to do." Grabbing my sweater and purse, I headed to the intercom. "I'll be right down."
"I can't wait." Came Neros smooth voice, instantly sending jolts through my entire body. Me either, I thought, as I headed out the door.
