LOST CHASING THE SUN

Two paths declined

Our cabin was located in the woods not far from town. It was owned by my father, who disowned me years ago. At least he left us a place to stay but my mother refused to let us stay there .Our cabinet had three bedrooms, a steam room, a kitchen and a bathroom. All of the furniture was still new. We had long moved out after our father divorced our mother. We were about to move into the house before the divorce.

We arrived at the cabin after three long hours of driving due to flooded traffic. On our drive to the cabin we saw a lot of disheartening scenes. People were running around clueless , some people got hit by cars and the weird creatures were killing everyone , soldiers and police officers shooting the creatures, firefighters everywhere.The town was left in shambles and during our drive we were all quiet no one spoke anything , we were all shaking . Misha kept on cuddling with my little brothers to keep them from seeing things outside.

On our arrival, we unloaded the trunk. The boys were still asleep. This gave us more time to organize ourselves.

“Does it have electricity?,"Misha asked me with sad , red eyes .

“Yeah! There should be a generator too ," I said .

“Where is the meter box ?,"Misha asked.

“It's at the back of the cabin," I said, pointing behind the house.

Misha was intelligent, she studied electricity, computer science and all the sciences in the world she knew about, she was able to fix the meter box and we packed everything in order , sweeping and wiping up all dirty surface areas before the boys woke up.

“Hey ! Electricity is low, so we had better use the gas stove for cooking and other stuff," she said .

“ I am about to prepare food. Are you up for some?," I asked her.

“No !.I will just have snacks," she said.

“You know you are hungry, you won't make it through the night on an empty stomach,"I said.

“ you don't act like you care ," she yelled.

“ hey hey !.. where is that attitude coming from , is it about Telita ? well I did not kill her," I yelled back at her .

“you never cared about her or me .. it was always about you and your selfish reasons," she yelled back crying.

“ hey I did my best , I was always busy with work and I did care too," I yelled back acting strong.

“You always chose your work over everything , over us, over your family and over my parent's death," she said wiping away here tears .

“ you know what I don't care what you think but you are not blaming Telila's death on me ," I said pointing at her with deadly finger .

“ maybe that's why your father abandoned you ," she bitterly said.

“ oh ! really, well maybe that's why your father died ," I bitterly replied back. And I regretted my words the instant I saw Misha's sad face .

“ f**k you," Misha said banging the door behind me.

I knew Misha wouldn't listen to me hence I ignored her and started to prepare my little brother's noodles.It was already close to midnight.. when my little brothers woke up and they had to eat again because they slept hungry .

“ Zeir where is Misha ?," Ben asked me looking concerned.

“ she is in one of the room so relax ," I said giving him a warm smile“ come in guys come and sit at the dinning table," I ordered my little six year old twins .

“ Zeir are we going to die ?," Ben asked.

“ No ! you won't die trust me you won't ," I said .

“ which noodles did you make?," Dan asked me .

“ your favourite chicken curry," I said.

“ I am glad you still remembered ," Dan said giving me a warm smile.( Dan was the more intelligent and brave , if you ever saw him crying just know he was really hurt . Ben was a cry baby , he needed more nursing and attention).

After two hours of playing with my little brothers I put them back to sleep. I didn't feel like sleeping so I stayed up at night with a glass of champagne to rewire my brains.

Misha came from her room she switched on the news and it was reported that the mad scientist was still missing, so the government took it in their own hands to figure out what the creatures were and why the sun was causing people to go crazy.

The FBI and soldiers combined were able to Capture two of the creatures, and they were being loaded to the national science lab for experiment purposes.

A report theory from one countries labs stated that the virus from the sun might be causing this creatures to develop very rapidly and strongly, using the controlled humans as host's .The president informed everyone to lock themselves in their houses until the matter was resolved. so we were urged to stay in our houses . He stated that most areas around the country were already hoarded by these creatures so he declared a clean out by dropping missiles in those areas to clean and reduce the creatures .

The lockdown caused electrical shortage as the power lines were being destroyed by the Hanter tacs , Many countries reported large number of deaths and vandalism of properties.

“Misha switched off the news and gave me a I lost hope look .

“ we just have to eat carefully and we will be fine for the next three months,"She said grabbing my glass of wine from my hands to take a gulp.

TWO MONTHS LATER

We were secluded from the rest of the city and everyone else, electricity died a month back and we survived on fire . Everything was fine , but we hadn't heard from the news in two months because we were out of electricity so Misha proposed we used the generator just for that night.After we switched on the generator, we heard a Knock on the door.

A man knocked on our door. Misha opened the door .

“ hie please! we are hungry and we don't have a place to stay,"He cried..

Behind him was a pregnant woman, a middle aged man and a teenage boy .

“Ahh! I am sorry but we can't accommodate all of you , we have kids here," I said.

“please daughter, my wife is about to give birth,"he cried.

“ Where are you guys coming from in the middle of this night , you were asked to stay in your houses,"I protested.

“We know but hunger was killing us and we lost our loved ones , please,"he pleaded.

“ so you want to finish our food and then leave again?," I bitterly asked.

“ please! please you have to help us," The

pregnant woman,"cried.

“Zeir ! let them in ," Misha insisted.

“No ! I am here to take care of my brothers, they are not going to suffer, you guys keep on moving," I ordered.

“ Zeir! let them in , it's dark ," Misha said.

“Only on one condition, we go for a food hunt tomorrow," I said.

“yes ! please,"The middle aged man said.

We let the four people in and I wasn't happy about them living with us . Misha prepared them rice and sausage soup.

“ so when are you guys leaving," I rudely asked them .

“ we were hoping we could stay," the woman said.

“uh ! no , you guys are leaving first thing tomorrow," I ordered.

“ Zeir let them stay plus they going to help us with the food hunt,"Misha protested.

The next day ... we prepared to leave for the hunt , Misha and I went to the car Hoping the four would follow us behind but they locked us outside.

“ hey !," I yelled banging on the door.

The middle aged man , opened the windows and dangled my keys in Mockery.

“You were all fools to let us in ,"The woman said removing a fake baby bump .

“ let my little brothers out,", I yelled back. The man opened the door to let them out.

“ get out of here losers,"The teenage boy mocked, closing the door behind him.

“ I told you , not to trust look at where we are," I said in anger .

“what do we do ?," Misha asked me in tears .

“we move we better find a place to stay before it gets dark," I said.

“okay kids don't be afraid okay," Misha said assuring my brothers of safety . “ or we should just let them stay here," she continued.

“ No , we move now !," I ordered

We walked for two hours, following the main road that led to town . The sun was still red but you could tell if it was day or dark . We arrived at our town and everything was a mess, some building were destroyed, blood flow creating a stream , a hanged body by the tree. The aesthetic of the town was ruined in just two months.

We heard a loud growl from a distance. We ran and hid ourselves in one of the food stores, the food store was deserted with only sweets and chips, Misha snuck some in her bag We crawled to the back door of the store , Misha was the first followed by my brothers then me . I looked behind me and the half human half dog creature stood still staring at me from behind me . “ guys ! run ! run ," I yelled.

We got up on our feet's screaming we ran to the back door being chased by the creature. It chased us down the main street and Ben tripped falling behind the creature caught up to him ,

“help!," Ben screamed ... standing still looking at the hideous creature.

“ I ran towards my little brother and stood between him and the creature.

“ Kill me !," I yelled at it ...

We heard gunshots, I hugged my little brother, we looked behind us and the creature fell flat to the ground.

Seven FBI men came to us .

“ good day miss is he your son?," asked me .

“ no! my brother," I said shaking.

“ well unfortunately we have to take him with us ," he said.

Dan and Misha came from their hiding.

“ oh ! they are twins , that makes it interesting," he said.

“ what do you mean take them , they are fine with me," I protested

“ it's a law from the government, we are protecting them in new heaven, so that they help to reproduce in future just in case we vanish," he said.

“ who is protecting them ?,"Misha asked.

“ the new robots ," he said.

“ I don't care , I am staying with them," I said.

The FBI forcefully loaded my siblings in a truck , leaving me an Misha there.

I cried in pain at the event.

After a while of crying.. a blue truck arrived a woman and some soldiers, loaded the creature in their truck .

“ I am roser Magradams," She said giving a weird smile.

“ Misha and Zeir," I said

“Misha , Misha Rutherford I remember you from Harvard... your science presentation and you won ," she said.

“ yes ! yes !, Ms Mac-gradams from the National science lab," Misha excitedly said.

“ well ! if you don't mind we would like to take you in , we need more smart brains like yours ," she said .

“ Misha ! no ," I cried

“ Zeir I have to go , this is what I have been waiting for my whole life," She said.

“ What ! No they are the same reason why the sun is dead how ..can..y..," I said.

“ I am going, and I am going to fix this mess with or without you , it's not like you care," Misha bitterly said.

“ Misha who is going to stay with me , what happened to friends stick together," I cried.

“ Telila is gone , your mom , your brothers, I mean there is nothing here to stay for ," she said.

“ Misha no ! please no !," I cried.

“ I have to go ," she said following Ms Mac-gradams to their truck. The truck passed by me splashing the creatures blood on my clothes with their truck tires . I watched the truck vanish in a distance.

I was tired of losing the things, I loved the most , I made a mission to go get my car back and I am going to get it from those stupid thieves.

I grabbed a bat , and walked my way back to my cabin like a mad man . Upon arrival to my horror I found the teenage boy hanged on the tree , the woman's body was slashed into two and the two men , were laying on the floor headless . I vomited really hard, I took my keys and drove my car , three hunter tacks came following me from behind.
